japanese videogames with scripts/furigana etc.

Probably an encoding issue -- toggle your browser's encoding to shift-jis, since that seems to be what it is. I'm guessing for some reason it's trying to load it as utf-8 and that is causing problems.

It's working fine here, for what it's worth. Smile

Whoa, I tried doing what you told me, but it won't work. Really weird. But I guess it's fine since it's not an issue with the website, I'll have to keep looking for the solution.

All I see is on two different browser.

uƒ”ƒ@ƒ‹ƒLƒŠ [¥ƒvƒ ƒtƒ@ƒCƒ‹ v‚Æ‚¢‚¤ƒQ [ƒ€‚̑䎌 W‚Å‚· B
ƒVƒiƒŠƒI‚ª D‚«‚·‚¬‚é‚ ‚Ü‚è ì ¬‚µ‚Ü‚µ‚½ B
ƒtƒ ƒbƒs [‚Ì•´Ž¸‚Æ‚©‚É‚æ‚è“r’†”²‚¯‚Ä‚éƒLƒƒƒ‰‚ ‚è‚Ü‚· B
–¢Š® ¬‚Å‚·‚ª‚±‚ê‚©‚ç‚Ç‚ñ‚Ç‚ñ‘ ‚¦‚Ä‚¢‚—\’è‚Å‚· B

When using Japanese (Shift_JIS) it becomes.

However, I don't have to go to all that trouble to view Japanese text. Did you happen to change the setting on your computer somehow? Could you give more information on where you got this text?

Hi
Thanks for replying
I finally got it to work. "ninetimes" was right, my problem was that I was trying to change the encoding from Tools->Options->Content->Tipes and colors when I had to do it from View->Characters codification
How easy....

Will it come with a real book like the DS one? Because then I'll probably be unable to import it Sad

There is another game by Level 5 called ダンボール戦機 for the PSP with furigana all over the place too.

That ni no kuni game looks so awesome I'd buy a ps3 only to play it, that and disgaea 4. Too bad there are no shin megami tensei games for the console.

The FF7 script here is pretty awesome; I used it to complete the game no problems. It is, however, missing kanji/kana for character names, menus, items, spells, enemies, and etc., so here is a wiki page with all of that: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final...anslations

If the author if this thread is still around, please add this to the list under FF7 as it's pretty valuable and it's hard to find.

Question might sound stupid, but what do you do with the scripts? If you copy it into the game (so it shows in japanese), how did you do it?

You use the scripts for easier lookups when you play through the game.

I don't know if I will have the patience to finish this, but I've started lining up the Japanese and US English localisation of FF6.
There seems to be much more narration in the original Japanese.

I like to use the script for games I've played in English, and use Rikaisama and morphman to prelearn the game. Then after I have a good idea of most of the words, I play through the game.

Found the script for Dragon Quest VII.

The PS version is included, as well as the 3DS one. http://sutton-kyouwa.com/g/dq7mari.htm

I'll be giving this look! I'm planning on buying the game later this week.

I copy+pasted it awhile back, and added a few things as well.  https://mega.nz/#!dJ5BwBSD!fygNAoxCGLIOYpJKMdE9XcNGEkMMPo_c9lbuTq00NBs

Also, I created an audio deck out of FFX in case you're curious about that. It's up on this site: http://japanesedecks.blogspot.jp/2016/06/x.html   (This was before I got subs2srs to work on my mac)

Hey everyone, I have a discord server centering around Japanese Video Game Scripts and learning Japanese through video games Big Grin. I left a post on reddit a couple of weeks ago that explains it, so I'll just past it below XD

Quote:Hey everyone. I created a Discord server the other day with the intention of it being a place where people can gather and Transcribe/Learn Japanese by playing video games together.
The idea being that we use Google Docs as our platform. Using Google Docs we can edit documents in real-time together, leave comments asking what a particular sentence means thus allowing other members to answer and ofcourse chat within the document itself.
Combined with tools like Rikai-Chan/Rikai-Kun it could be a fun way to learn and share knowledge.
I've already set up the server and anyone is welcome to join, even if it's just to talk about Japanese Games as there's appropriate channels for transcription and general chat.
I've been transcribing Disgaea 5 and started on Persona 5. Ofcourse anyone is welcome to start a channel for any game for the purpose of transcribing.
Here's the link https://discord.gg/3xjCwMs
Hopefully see you there if you're interested. Would love to hear if anyone has any idea's etc...

p.s We have our own doc with links to a bunch of scripts you won't find anywhere else!

I know this thread hasn't been active in a while, but I just followed someone's advice to google the Japanese name of a game + セリフ, and I found this fantastic site with a ton of scripts for Phoenix Wright (Gyakuten Saiban). Looks like the Japanese scripts for pretty much every Gyakuten game.

http://www.aya.or.jp/~kidparty/gyakuten/word.htm

I plan to mine these for vocab cards at some point. Gyakuten is a lot of fun to play in Japanese if you have decent-ish kanji (N2 level or so). No furigana, except for names and especially difficult words, and there is a bit of technical jargon related to crime and law, but it's a great story, the panels move one by one so you can take all the time you need to look up words, and it's just a fun game. I love them all, but the first three games are probably the best.

(Have to say the English scripts are often even funnier than the Japanese. This is the only game I regularly re-play on my DS in both Japanese and English, because I love the scripts for both languages.)

Japanese scripts for:

Treasure of the Rudras/Rudra no Hihou
Mystic Ark
Terranigma
Linda Cubed
Kowloon's Gate
Planet Laika
Dark Half

The Linda Cubed and Kowloon's Gate ones also have transcriptions for otherwise un-subtitled voiced bits. Also Rudra, Mystic Ark, Terranigma, and Dark Half have English translations you could compare against.

I have Linda Cubed but haven't started it, so the script will be nice to have to maybe do some vocabulary prep before playing it. Plus I'm glad to see a script for one of the Devil Summoner games as well. Will have to download those pages in case it goes offline at some point like other sites with scripts have.

Would anyone be up for making some scripts by transcribing video from YouTube or the like? I started one yesterday based on this video of Metal Gear Rising since after finishing that a while back I had the feeling that my understanding was lacking more than I would have liked.

The main thing is, perhaps obviously, the scale of it. Some games might have around 2 hours of story content, and some have upwards of 10 hours. I'm transcribing this by playing it at 2x speed but it's still pretty slow going. I've managed to make it about a third of the way through it so far after a few hours over the past two days. I figure a partial script is better than nothing, but I'm still going to try to finished it off.

Since the links do not work anymore, I was wondering if someone got the Japanese script for Final Fantasy 13, and possibly the script for all of the items and abilities descriptions as well. This is what I need in order to be able to play this game in Japanese eventually.

Would appreciate any sharing, thanks!

Edit: Add to that Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+ for ps2 if possible.

This script was compiled from transcripts posted in a forum and translated, which should cover the main storyline of FFXIII (although it doesn't account for parts where the subtitles say one thing but the dialogue another, such as when 下界 is read as
パルス):
https://mega.nz/#!8nAShJjD!up1_SjP8x4jnb...ZaOM7pnBhY

This site has the description text for FFXIII's items (battle items, materials for upgrading equipment, key items), weapons, shops, Optimas (Paradigms), and trophies, but not abilities. Although the site itself does include similar pages of description text for a number of other games.
http://homepage3gore.game.coocan.jp/ff13/

These sites includes ability descriptions for each role and summon but they sometimes differ slightly in wording on each site and I'm not sure which (if either) are what is actually used in-game:
http://game-kouryaku.info/ff13/ability.html
http://playshinra.com/ff13/

There doesn't seem to be a full script for Kingdom Hearts 2 online, at least in one place. This site has partial scripts but nowhere near complete:
https://www7.atwiki.jp/xehanort/pages/25.html

(There is a similar one for the first game which has more completed but still doesn't look full: https://www7.atwiki.jp/taru/pages/9.html )

This site has transcripts for dialogue but only for the Org. XIII characters:
http://nobody.kazeki.net/org13/StartPage.htm

You can find bits and pieces people are put in blog posts or the like by searching for a distinct line of dialogue, but no one seems to have sat down and constructed a full script.

For things like item names and description text, you can try searching for キングダムハーツ2 攻略 which will bring up walkthrough sites with lists of items, but without checking them against the actual text in the game I don't know if they will be exactly what you'd see playing when playing it. The best thing to do would be to take an example of the text from the actual game (which you can probably pick out from a gameplay video) and running a search on that.

This site seems to have some for items, magic, and abilities. Even if not accurate it should give some help with the vocabulary you will see when playing the game.
http://elemental-garden.net/kh2/

This site has weapon descriptions for Sora, Donald, and Goofy:
https://www7.atwiki.jp/roxas/

This is a Chinese forum thread where someone seems to have been compiling descriptions for items, abilities, accessories, etc.:
http://www.langrissera.com/forum.php?mod...3D1&page=1

Here is the script for Metal Gear Rising that I transcribed if anyone is interested, although I haven't checked over it.
https://mega.nz/#!pzwnhKAB!Hwwvn1Y4rEcrq...TCbmwboc4g

Speaking of KH2, I might have a go at making a script for that next using this playlist since there doesn't seem to be one around.
