buonaparte's audio and text links

Updated
http://users.bestweb.net/~siom/martian_mountain/JCP/
made it much more learner friendly and added new stuff.

Yumi (mentioned above) is included too. It's complete this time.

Download into corresponding folders and unpack.
If you use 7-Zip: right click and choose Extract Here.
Check ! IMPORTANT FoldersTreeAfterUnpackingTheFiles .txt

If something doesn't work:
1. first check the path
2. make sure you've installed all the applications that can read the various file formats
3. install the necessary fonts (they are in ! tools.7z)

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Make MIRRORS - as many as possible.
I'll join my late sister sooner rather than later, and then everything will go down the drain.
And THEN you'll have to drain the swamp.

rawtost's mirror doesn't seem to be working any longer.

Thanks so much for the update, and for putting the materials up in the first place. I'll be getting a mirror sorted soon.

It looks like some of the new archives in /JCP are corrupted - for instance, !A-kattara.7z, !A-kattari.7z, !GrVJGr.7z.008 have all thrown errors saying the files are corrupted, and many of the WAVs could not be extracted.

It's quite possible that this is an issue with my machine, and I'll get hold of another to check this on, but I wanted to flag it in case the original files are indeed corrupted.

7z.001, 7z.002 , etc are split files, you have to download all of them to extract. Right click the first one and choose Extract here.

!A-kattara.7z, !A-kattari.7z, - downloaded them. They're all right.
You'd better use 7-zip to unpack - it's free.

I wrote and compiled the stuff in JCP etc for my niece. I thought it would be nice to share them as well.
JCP is a tiny subset of the HUGE off line JCP. I won't be able to upload everything, I'm afraid.

Download TextsJCP.7z first, to get an idea what to expect.
The texts should be in D:\JCP. D: stands for any disk; the links are relative, so the name of the drive doesn't matter.
Some links in the docs might not be working if the content wasn't uploaded. But it's a tiny minority.
Should you come across some notes in Polish or Russian, don't worry, they are not important.
Everything is explained in my Plain Broken English.

Should you have any trouble, drop a line here.

Check
http://users.bestweb.net/~siom/martian_m...PDATES.txt from time to time.
I might upload something new if I'm not dead and well enough to do it.

Boys and girls, make mirrors.

Aah, one more thing.
DON'T change the names of the files and folders, even if there are errors in them - the content is what matters, not the name. Some links will stop working.

This was the problem. I had been using the normally-reliable 'The Unarchiver' program in OSX, which had given the errors. Using the 7zip command line seems to be doing the trick.

Thanks again for your help!

Downloading as I write this. I won't put up a mirror in the near future, but at least I'm making a local copy (and I'll do an additional backup duplicate as soon as it's completely downloaded) to make my part and ensure this doesn't get lost forever.
In a few months, when I have the time, along with restarting my Japanese vocabulary studies I'll come back to this and look for a free (or at least, really cheap) way to publish it.
In the meantime, if anyone needs a copy and there's none out there, feel free to ask for it.

I'm really sorry to hear about that.
TBH I never took the chance to talk to her, but I hold in high regard the work she did for the Japanese language learning community.
Of course, I'm grateful to you, too. You've gone to great lengths to keep it alive, which is much appreciated. Really.

Best wishes

faneca,
let me cite the classic:

In human life (topicは), there are plenty of painful and sad things.
At the end, Death comes. (Polite addressative ます.)

Polite 'addressative' means: respect for the addressee (listener or reader).

Thanks buonaparte for taking efforts to upload all these. Downloading is very slow and the files are large in size.
Do you know if anybody has uploaded or mirrored all the files?

Take care!

There used to be a mirror, but it seems to no longer exist.  No matter, you can download these materials much faster than you can use them, so have some patience.

A question:
How do you automatically hide ruby/furigana in Microsoft Word 2016?
Not to get rid of it, but simply hide and make it visible again if necessary.

@buonaparte

There is option called as phonetic guide on your home ribbon (Next option to Fonts) , if you click on that you will see few buttons on right hand panel Click on Clear Readings and furigana will disappear/hide.

Thanks a lot. But it doesn't work. I don't want to clear/delete the ruby/furigana, I want to hide it.

Normally, to hide a text you use:

Find and Replace
Ctrl+H Format>Font>Hidden

and it works. But there seems to be no Ruby option there to choose and hide.

But the way, if you want to get rid of furigana in huge etexts (novels), just copy the text to Notepad.

I need that feature because I'd like to make some parallel bilingual/multilingual novels for Listening-Reading (audio + etexts) and leave them for posterity.
Ad maiorem Dei gloriam. Or whatever you call it.

I have downloaded NHK Hatsuon Akusento Jiten.7z from the link. I have extracted the file in folder. After that I ran ebview-0.3.5-win32-ja file which showed that it has extracted 'something' but not sure what...

I am not sure what next or how to use this. Can somebody explain me how to use this?

I am using windows 7 64 bit Operating system.

It's EPWING format.

By the way, NHK released a new version of the dictionary - NHK日本語発音アクセント新辞典. I don't have it.

Thanks for the quick response. I could successfully open CATALOGS as suggested by you.

Now I can see 2 options
記号の説明
アクセント活用表

There are couple of sub options when I click on each of them. Is that the only thing this catalogue do? (Just to confirm if I am missing anything)

They explain the notation used in the dictionary, and the conjugation tables.

If you want to listen to a word, paste it into the search bar and click Find. And then click the green buttons to listen.

Does anyone know how to disable this warning in Windows 10?

This warning happens when the origin of the file is untrusted (for instance, if it was downloaded from the Internet).
IIRC, you can go to the properties of the file that gives you that warning (right click on the file > properties) and there it is possible to deactivate it. But it's been a long time since I last used Windows, so take it with a grain of salt.

If that didn't help, maybe this can:

Thank you very much.
And sorry for your trouble. I should have been more specific. I've done the stuff you mentioned before. It does not work. Something else must be blocking the links.
It only blocks audio and video clips, it does not block text files (html, txt, m3u, m3u8, doc, docx).

Any help would be appreciated.

I did a search on this a while back because it's very annoying when using your doc files. I couldn't find a way to disable it.

I created a little AutoHotKey script as a workaround:

Code:
;
; AutoHotkey Version: 1.x
; Language:       English
; Platform:       Win9x/NT
; Author:         A.N.Other <myemail@nowhere.com>
;
; Script Function:
;    Template script (you can customize this template by editing "ShellNew\Template.ahk" in your Windows folder)
;

#NoEnv  ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
SendMode Input  ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir%  ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

MButton::

 Send, {Control down}
 Send, {Click}
 Send, {Control up}
 Send, {Left}
 Send, {Enter}

Return

MButton = clicking on the scrolling wheel.

Basically the script automatically clicks on Ok in the security message, but it's so fast that you don't even see the message appearing.

You can get AutoHotKey for free at https://autohotkey.com/
Paste the text above in a text file and save it as click.ahk (not .txt).

I hope this helps.

OK, it works. Thank you very much.

To make things simple for people who know nothing about anything (like myself):

1.

How to disable ‘CTR+click link’, should be just ‘Click link’
In Word: Tools-->Edit uncheck 'CTRL and click'
In Word 2016:
File -> Options -> Advanced Editing Options Unchek Use CTRL + Click to follow hypelink

2.
WinAmp play list
http://oi68.tinypic.com/13zvdzn.jpg

3.
https://autohotkey.com/download/ahk-install.exe

4.
Copy the lines below into a text file. Change .txt to .ahk

MButton::

Send, {Click}
Send, {Left}
Send, {Enter}

Return

5.
Hover the mouse over a link, click the middle button of the mouse.

6.
The .doc files in
http://users.bestweb.net/~siom/martian_mountain/
were written in Windows XP, Word 2003.
So it might be a good idea to to install Oracle VM VirtualBox, and to install Windows XP there as a guest.
Windows XP lets you disable any unnecessary warnings.
