What are some good/popular variety in Japan, beside the idol-related stuff, which I already watch?

That's great, thank you very much!

PS: I must add that I'm interested not only in strict variety, but even other kind of tv-shows. Like quiz-shows and similar, but still on the funny side, like this:

The only quiz show I watch is darake. Quiz shows are boring in general
ダラケ is damn engrossing

Does Gaki no Tsukai count as variety? Not great for language learning (lots of Kansai dialect, and no one bothers to speak clearly), but funny as hell.

It's not really variety I guess, but I love マツコの知らない世界. Matsuko spends an entire segment talking to regular people about their particular job or hobby. You can find a large archive of past episodes on DailyMotion, and it airs occasionally on TV Japan as well.

Pretty much all of the Matsuko shows are entertaining, but I personally find 月曜から夜ふかし to be the best. The JALUP review pretty much sums up why it is so good.

That looks awesome! I think the wife and I will watch an episode or two tonight. If you know where we can get better copies than the ones I'm finding on YouTube, lmk (PM is fine).

I just downloaded 第2回 セクシー女優ダラケのスカパー水泳大会. I, uh, think I'll watch this one when my wife isn't around... :-o

We did start watching the one about lawyers who pursue underworld financial crime - that one's very intriguing.

I'm pretty new to the world of Japanese variety shows, but lately I've been watching ニンゲン観察モニタリング (Ningen Kansatsu Monitoring)..  It's a mix between Candid Camera and Punk'd.

The Chinese streaming sites are your best bet although they can be a bit laggy sometimes.

I found 'YOUは何しに日本へ' to be really great. There are some episodes on youtube, I really liked this one:

水曜日のダウンタウン is consistently funny.
Different geinins bring in goofy "theories" that are then tested out in the real world

Ok, this time I need something more specific.
Do you know the classical idol variety format? Well, I need something similar but with boys.
Does something like that exist? Not necessarely the same format, even quiz and other kind of variety are ok, but there must be boys instead of girls.

Love that show too, let me know if there's an easy way to find that archive and keep track of new ones. I think the reason I gave up watching as much Japanese tv is partially due to burnout, but mostly a result of being too lazy to find all the good stuff and sift through the crap.
