Twitter bot still doesn't respond to tweets -- does anybody have contact with the person who runs it?

(I'm at 158 pages currently -- taking it at a much easier pace than previous rounds.)

I am able to update via the website but, like pm215, not via Twitter.

I poked LordSilent about it on irc already but no reaction so far.

Decided to focus on manga for this round as I have a backlog of 60+ volumes right now and I kinda feel bad about buying more without actually reading them. Got 8 volumes in so far =)

I can't believe I just spent six hours reading!

Seems like I'm switching back to reading mostly 無職転生 this round, though I'm also 100 pages into the first volume of 狼と香辛料, and finished off the last three volumes of a manga I've been reading on and off for a while. I've read a chapter or two of the other webnovels I've been reading, but they're not holding my interest much at the moment. For instance I just finished the second arc of Re:Zero a few days ago, so it's not pulling me to read it much.

Anyway, if I pull off a crazy move tomorrow like I did today, I might just take first place for a bit!

It's probably better to use the web interface, I don't see it getting fixed before the contest is over to be honest. Still haven't gotten a response back.

Web UI wants too many privileges over my twitter account...

The twitter account I use for tadoku is only for tadoku, so I don't really care what privileges are involved.  Just a thought, if being in the ranking is important to you, you could make a separate twitter account.

Also, wow!  452 pages!  Reading is still such slow going for me.  I am full of admiration and envy for those of you that have already read multiple hundreds.

Looks like lordsilent has kicked the bot, and it's woken up and processed at least some of the tweets sent to it over the last two weeks. For me it looks like it's missed a few, so if anybody else was using or trying to use the twitter interface you might want to give it a few days to settle down and then check whether any of your updates are missing or double-counted...

Not quite half way through, but I'm already more than halfway to my goal! This will be (at least, need to update my data) three straight contests in a row that I've beaten my previous daily average!
Now, if I could just find what happened to my cycling time...

I was just thinking I'd caught up to you when you leapt ahead again :-)

Yeah, spent about 11 hours reading yesterday and last night, but I just added it all this morning. I didn't like that I broke my pattern.

So I Just piled up all the Japanese books i'd been ignoring for my lit review and placed them on top of the English ones.

It's on now ^.^

I have an initial version which seems to work, if you'd like to try it out.
README with quick details of how to use it, plus source code (in rust; GPLv2+).
tadoku_stats.exe Windows binary (60MB)
example output (this is where the contest stands right now)

Some cautions:
* don't use Notepad to read the output text file, use WordPad or something else that can handle Unix style text files (this is a bug but one I've not got time to fix just now)
* I was very lazy about error handling, so any kind of problem (website down, file not found, etc) will result in a messy panic and backtrace rather than a helpful error message
* the expectation is that you run it from a command prompt; double clicking it in the GUI is unlikely to do anything useful
* I tested the Windows binary on my Windows 10 VM so hopefully it will work for you...
* I wrote this thing in Rust partly because I'm trying to learn that language so don't assume the source code is a masterpiece of idiomatic rust ;-)

I just threw together some ranking tables based roughly on what you had in your last blog post. If the format doesn't work for you let me know, it's pretty easy to tweak (could add an option for wordpress-format markup if that's useful). I haven't tried to do any kind of table formatting or nice touches like translating the two letter language codes into the language names yet; can do that kind of thing if it works for you, but I wanted to get this out now since I don't know whether I'll get much more time to work on it between now and the end of this month's contest.

...what? I actually show up in the news rankings? That doesn't seem right. Surely one of you can spend an hour or so reading news and take that away from me.

EDIT: I just remembered, I have a question about tadoku and news. It seems obvious to me that http://shasetsu.seesaa.net/ counts as news. I also count it as news when I read stuff off of http://www.nippon.com/ja/ but that feels a little more borderline to me. The topics are not necessarily news, but the style is newsy, so I figure it counts. But, what about more clickbaity sites such as https://www.lifehacker.jp/ ? Would an article titled (for example) "How to Salvage a Relationship After an Affair" count as news?

I don't usually care for that kind of stuff, but it's kind of awesome for Japanese study. The articles on Lifehacker use a writing style that tends to be easier for me to read, on subject matter I am often very familiar with. And, they are also often translations of English-language articles that I can refer to if I run into trouble with a phrase or two. But I can't quite bring myself to call them news. I don't know what else to call them?

Wouldn't #net work for Japanese lifehacker articles? Seems like the best category for them to me.

#net would fit the best, just watch out for the wordcount. The net page calculator doesn't always match up with the category. No shame in counting sentences or net book pages (400chars) and just input them like that. I never used #net since online articles I read were more like 2-5 net pages, so i just counted the sentences.

Ohh, is that what #net is?  I feel silly now.  Thank you!  I might start incorporating some of that in, then.

I always count characters.  It's so easy to do online, might as well.

noob question how does the #lyric tag work?

Is it 1song= 1#lyric
Or 1 song 120 words =120#lyric

thanks

1 song is one lyric, regardless of the number of words Smile
