Is there a way to modify the script adding the italian keywords?

Yeah, you can use a so called text editor.

There are two ways, each having their drawbacks.

The first is to infuse them into your prefs.js, an approach described in this thread. This has the same effect as changing the keywords by hand on the study page for each frame. Your keywords will survive between updates to each script, but there's no easy way to switch to a different edition afterwards, and clearing the keyword after you made a personal change to it, will result in the english keyword reappearing, not the original italian.

The second is to infuse the list directly into the script. See Reply #94 earlier in this thread. The drawback is you will need a backup of that part of the code, so you can add in the list again after every script update.

Woelpad, thank you for all your efforts !

I'd like to know :
About the first way of doing this : when Pcsl88 says : "You have to add this line into the file "prefs.js". It is located in the profile folder. Don't overwrite it, if you do, you will lost your preferences." The link he gives for the line to add no longer works. What kind of addition was it ?

And another question, about the second way of changing the keywords : This method you give, does it work when the order is not the same ? (I'm using the French version and really appreciate your "Alter sequence" script.)

I'm really sad about the new version of the RTK website, it is really nice, but I can't use it for now, since everything is gone sad
Do you know if the keywords list is still somewhere on my computer ? Or is it totally lost ?
I don't know if you're working on a new version of your famous scripts but if you do: がんばって!
I'm really glad some people like you can help others the way you do with those ! Thanks again !

I thought I had posted here already, but I see that I did not.  Here's the deal.  With the new website, the substitute keyword script is sometimes putting the word "STUDY" in the prompt during the review sessions.  When we turn over the cards, sometimes we get Study, but sometimes we get "alternate" or "municipality" or "shins" or some other random kanji, for which we never did (consciously) insert a substitute keyword.  I'm pretty convinced that it is the at greasemonkey script, because when I got "STUDY" again this last time, I disabled greasemonkey, hit end and then review again.  I went thru all the remaining kanji and didn't get STUDY again.  (alternate, municipality and shins didn't show up either).  I think it might have something to do with the profile entry that says which edition of RTK we're using?  Maybe whenever there is a "this/that" sort of entry it goes to STUDY?  A random theory, but I'm totally hopeless at editing a greasemonkey script.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Edit:  the item I think it substituted STUDY for this time was observance/dedicate

The others are:  transfer/alternate, borough/municipality, skids/shins

I've forgotten how to get to the Substitute keywords profile page.  Can anybody remind me how to do that?

Did the Substitute Keywords profile page disappear?  Or is there another way to get there now?

Edit:  Never mind.  If you go to the profile page with greasemonkey disabled, you don't see the place to choose the editions you're using.  doh!

I fixed the problem with the multiple keywords getting messed up on the review page. Apparently Fabrice suddenly chose to display them on one line instead of two and only mention one edition. Looks more like an oversight on his side. The code should now be robust enough to handle both representations.

Ah, my bad. The flashcard keyword formatting may have been "lost in translation" (refactoring). Added to my todo list.

I have just upgraded the Substitute keyword script and now, if I try to "Review" my "due flashcards", neither the kanji nor the buttons are displayed in the quizz frame! If I desactivate the script, however, everything returns to normal. Did anybody else observe this behavior?  Thanks

I saw that too a couple of times, but it's pretty inconsistent making it hard to debug. Try reloading or go back to the review main page and restart the session.

I have tried all these, and also rebooted the computer and deleted and reloaded the script. No effect…
…BUT if I disable the "Alter sequence" script, the problem is gone (as suggested, I placed "Alter sequence" before "Substitute keywords" in the list).
I am using  "Alter sequence" with the "Lite" option starting after frame #514.

So it looks like the problem occurred after I installed the last upgrade of "Substitute keywords", but really exists only if *both* scripts are simultaneously activated.

Unfortunately, I need both scripts :-((

@jmignot: Script fixed. It was indeed Alter Sequence that was tripping you up.

@jmkeralis: It should only bug you once every 24 hours if you decide not to upgrade. What you can do, is to open the script in an editor (use the Greasemonkey Manage Scripts dialog, select the script, push the edit button, enter the path to a text editor if asked for), then find "var version_timestamp = " and replace the following number with the one in the latest script (click the appropriate link to go to the userscripts.org page for the script, view the source code, find the same version_timestamp). That should stop it from asking you for updates until the next time that there is an actual update.

It works !!!!
Woelpad, you are amazing! I think I would have given up this site long ago if you were not so reactive to users' comments and requests.  After studying several years the French version of RTK, I could not imagine now switching to English keywords.
Thanks so much.

It's a long thread so please excuse me, if I didn't see something.
I have a new computer and was wondering if it is possible to get my customized keywords from my old computer to the new one.
Thank You so much for the skript, it is really working super.

This message is a start. In that file search for "Substitute keywords" and copy all those lines to the prefs.js file on your new computer. Do the same for all other Kanji.Koohii scripts in there if you like. The scripts themselves you should download from userscripts.org once more.

Look 2 posts up, woelpad just explained how to retrieve old keywords. If that file was replaced, then sorry, your keywords are permanently gone. This is one of the reasons I decided to migrate to Anki, it's just too easy to lose your keywords (and the script was buggy for me, didn't always show my substitutes).

Thank you Tobberoth! I will leave this job to the person who changed firefox. I don't have the nerve right now ... since the prefs.js shows only 1KB ....

Great job! Thanks Woelpad for the Greasemonkey script I used until now (which was a great help for learning) and Fabrice for implementing the edit keyword function into the website (and of course for the website itself!).

If I may, I'd like to make a request: Fabrice, could you please include the edited keyword in the page title like Woelpad's substitute keywords script did? At the moment it shows the English keywords which is a little bit distracting.

But the main reason is: I use an AutoHotkey script to assist me entering the primitive's and kanji's meaning and the only way of doing that is stripping the keyword from the browsers titlebar, i.e. the page title, which worked with the substitute keywords script, but not anymore with the website's edit keyword function.

I hope my request isn't too selfish. wink

Thanks!
