Hi Fabrice,

Mac OSX Firefox doesn't like the new update.

Mac OSX Safari looks fine.

Under Firefox, the 3 icons that I see in Safari aren't there. Instead there is what looks like an underscore in the top left corner of the story box. If you hover over it (off then back on) I see the 3 options but clicking doesn't do anything.

EDIT: Clicking 'use story' updates the date stamp of the story one uses. See obese mattoc_g story (I 'used' it)

The same in Firefox 2.0.0.6 under windows.

EDIT: And profiles aren't show (404 error). Example

Thanks for creating the topic, synewave!

Unfortunately it got late, so I won't be able to look at this until tomorrow.

I've already noticed at least one thing I overlooked while implementing this weekend:

- should not be able to vote one's own stories (duh!) smile

Pcsl88 Maybe the browser didn't fetch the latest stylesheets.  try Refresh in the browser?

Ok, got it. Some file was not uploaded to the server. Now it should display properly without the need to hit "refresh" in the browser.

Pcsl88 Thanks, profiles link fixed.

Firefox 2.0.0.6 on Vista. Besides the dead profile links, everything seems fine.

A quick explanation and then I'm really off!

The "newest" stories shows the last month's stories, sorted on date as before, so you can see what's new and the stories can grab some votes before disappearing into the list below.

The "favourites" then display the stories sorted on the number of stars.

So I went for a kind of compromise. I think it's easy like this to visually skip the newer ones if you are after the "most voted" stories, and vice-versa.

Very nice!

It's the best of both worlds, functional, and sexy to boot! Thanks, Fabrice.

This is should be very nice for people are on their first way through: admittedly, its own utility for me is somewhat minimal.

seems to be a couple issues, actually.

For Frame 129, "Obey", I get the following error message:

Warning: fopen(study/study_leftcol.html) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/faburisu/public_html/kanji/includes/class.template.inc.php on line 276

and the stories are not visible.

I'm sure this will be fixed later. Some of the frames seem fine.

Oh - and I think I accidentally "flagged"/reported somebody's story (damn trackpad!). Is there a way to "unreport" somebody?

On my computer, Firefox and Safari don't like it if you click on a keyword on the cards when you are reviewing.

If you're using the "Substitute keywords" Greasemonkey script -thanks woelpad- you'll realize that your substitute keywords will be gone when studying kanjis. Don't worry, it's just that with this update the study page url has changed. All you have to do is go to

     Tools->Greasemonkey->Administer scripts(or something like that)

Then, select the "Substitute keywords" script and change

     this     http://kanji.koohii.com/study.php*

     for something like this     http://kanji.koohii.com/study/*

and your substitute keywords will be back again.

Don't know what greasemonkey scripts are.  Cant disable them unless I know what they are.  Please explain.

Greasemonkey is an extension for Firefox - if you don't know Firefox, it is like Internet Explorer, but instead of sucking, Firefox rules.

What Greasemonkey does, bassically, is to manage scripts that you can download from the internet that customize the way sites are displayed. For example, the "Substitute keywords" script written by Woelpad, gives you the option to edit the keyword for every kanji in this site, or even add your own keywords. That is useful if your'e using a non-english version of "Remembering the Kanji", or if you just don't like some of Heisig's keywords and want to use your own.

Wow!  Firefox sounds neat.  I just went out for a cup of coffee.  How did I become so obsolete!

The 'View All' link below 'Failed Kanji' is not working.  I get the following error:

Not Found
The requested URL /study/failedkanjilist.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

btw, I love the 'Use this story' feature.  Thanks big_smile

Hi Fabrice,
This site is the best kanji motivator I have found,  however I can no longer
access the review part.  The failed kanji / study part and the forums are OK.
Any thoughts?

I can access the review section, but if I click on "review expired cards" it goes to the next screen then waits forever saying "loading".

I had the same problem (never loading to review) today on my work computer (using internet explorer) but it worked fine on my home computer (using firefox).  It was quite the scare.  Made me realize how awesome this site is.

This is an exciting update! I'm new to this site, but reading other people's stories have helped me out so much... I like the idea of being able to star or highlight my favorites so I can easily find them again... Usually when I find a confusing story in Heisig, there's bound to be more options here. In the short time I've been at this site, it's cool that the already awesome place you have here keeps improving.

Thanks!

I have switched from Explorer to Firefox and the reviews are working fine now. I'd also like to take the opportunity to echo the comments that many others have made; Reviewing the Kanji is a superb tool. Having used it for some time now, it would be very hard to live without it.

Many thanks Fabrice!
