Couldn't it be possible to include some of the functions provided by the scripts into the new layout? I think that having support for choosing fonts and different editions of RTK would be a great improvement for the site.

After the refactoring I can mplement "by default" some of Woelpad's scripts, for example I am seriously considering the keyword edition. Those are the things I couldn't do on the old codebase. As part of the refactoring no, because I keep pushing the date further each time I want to improve something. At first I didn't even plan to redesign the flashcard review page but it became more or less mandatory so the graphical update was just a side effect, and it pushed my '"estimated date" by 3 weeks. It's very frustrating, I'm doing time consuming stuff that I know will pay off later but right now doesn't do a whole lot of "new" on the site, since this is mostly a code rewrite. I'm happy that there was a good overhaul of the flashcard review page being that it's one of the most used parts of the site next to the stories, it will be an exciting change (I hope) for a lot of users (with  the fullscreen review mode).

TOPIC: More visible link to Amazon

Hi, this is a suggestion to a site enhancement:  but I just read your PRETTY GOOD MONTH post, Fabrice, where you mention that the portal to the site has a link to Amazon and that you get a % when people use that link to go to Amazon and buy somthing.

"If you want to actively support the site while shopping on Amazon, you can follow one of the links on the homepage (currently US, UK and FR), and if you buy something else the commission to RevTK will still be valid for 24h (As Far As I Know). Thank you"

I buy from Amazon pretty regularly and would like to use this link, but because I am permanently logged in to your wonderful site, I never see the version of the homepage you are referring to.

SUGGESTION:

Put a link to Amazon on the left side of the Home Page that us regulars see, where the link to KanjiPoster (which I used to buy two!) is.

If you do I promise to send some % your way but using this as my usual route to Amazon when I want to buy something smile

P.S. I'm posting on the forum rather than sending you a message directly to alert other regular users who may not have read your Pretty Good Month blog of the Amazon  commission

Hi Harrow, my plan is to add more interesting links or make a themed page like for dictionaries etc after the refactored site is online, so there will be links elsewhere, but right now you can find the same links on the "Learn More" page, check it out! Thanks for your support!

PS: thanks for the reminder, I'll see if I can adapt the "Support/Donation" page since those are also ways of support for the site.

You're very welcome. Just trying to give a little back for all you have done for us... and this costs me nothing, just a different link to Amazon to click smile

Due to a change in the structure of userscripts.org, I had to update the update checker function (the irony) in every script. For those who have any recent (1 year old or less) script installed, expect a load of alert boxes to pop up with lots of riddled text inside that drive the ok button off the screen. Pushing the enter key should work however and create (but not automatically switch to) another tab or window from which you can install the latest version, and as such get rid of the update alerts (how very useful). If all else fails, you can find all scripts here:

Thanks for alerting us to this as it lessened the shock of that gigantic alert box covering most of my screen I went to review. It was simple to install the new versions. I love the substitute keyword and change kanji fonts scripts.

I just got the massive error message and installed the new script.  There didn't seem to be any problems, but now the Substitute Keywords script is behaving as though I haven't entered any substitutes yet.  It still allows me to edit characters and keywords, and appears to save the results, but none of my previously inputted keywords are appearing.

prefs.js is still showing my old keywords under the KeywordList string; is there any reason why the script would be ignoring this?

Can you send the script-specific key-values from your prefs.js to me? I'll look into it.

Just a thought. Is it possible that you have created a second account recently and are logging in under that username, while the old keywords are still linked to the old username (and would reappear if you relogin under that name)? In such a case there'd be more than one KeywordList in your prefs.js file. Or even more basic, that in your latest login you changed part of the username to a different lowercase/uppercase? The scripts are case-sensitive, the website not, a known shortcoming.

After the site malicious script clean-up of yesterday, the substitute keywords script is causing the review page to stay in a "loading" state and not get to displaying a kanji. When that script is disabled the review page loads correctly.

Fixed Kanji Links now as well, which was equally stalling the review page. First reported here. I had to embed the DOM libraries located on Ricardo's site inside the script, which significantly increases the size of the script, but at the same time removes the dependency on that site remaining up.

Is it possible to bold part of the keyword with the greasemonkey script? If so, how do you do it? Sorry, if this has been mentioned here already and I missed it!

You need to lurk more: http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?pid=79275#p79275

The site has been updated and the scripts are now broken (you haven't lost your progress), so you'll have to wait for woolpad to fix them.

I updated all the relevant scripts. Actually I did that a long time ago when the test site first became available. I only did a cursory check now, time wanting. Check http://userscripts.org/users/18113/scripts and install those updated today.

Scripts that are showing trouble:
> Every script:
+ All personal data seem to be lost. Solved.
> Alter sequence:
+ Pushing the learned button will put a different kanji in the review pile and will not remove this one. Solved.
+ The links on the detailed flashcard list point to the card with that sequence number, rather than the correct frame. Solved.
+ The previous and next buttons don't take you to the previous/next frame in the sequence. Solved.
+ Can no longer display all failed keywords in the side bar.
+ Other cards appear in the restudy list than the ones failed.
+ Review page doesn't display any flash card anymore. Solved.
> Substitute keywords:
+ Editing the kanji will show the kanji in a different font than the original.
+ Multiple keyword frames show no keywords at all during review. Solved.

If there are other problems, let me know and I'll list them here and try to solve them.

Thanks for the quick update, woelpad.

For some reason the stroke count appears to be breaking on the study page (I'm using the change font and custom keywords scripts).  I get [undefined] or [NAN] where teh stroke count shoudl be Are you seeing that behavior?

Hm... I installed the updated version of the subsitute keywords script and it works. Works as in it lets me substitute the keywords but the old ones (german) are all gone. It seems like I have to rewrite all of them... are the words saved somewhere on the computer?

Hello aiken!

same problem around here ...

the last time I installed an update, the old words were saved - it worked automatically.

now - I just installed the new script - they seem to have disappeared?

woelpad,
can you help us out please?

*crossing my fingers the keywords aren't all gone - at 560.
aiken, how many did you put into the system so far?

greetings,
frlmarty

Should be fixed now. After you reinstall the scripts, open the Greasemonkey Manage User Scripts dialog and uninstall all scripts that start with "Test Kanji.Koohii". If you feel brave (i.e. are sure you selected a test script), you can check the checkbox next to it before pushing the uninstall button, otherwise leave it untouched. The only difference is that your prefs file will contain more clutter if you don't check it. OTOH if you selected the wrong script you would end up deleting all the associated data associated with that script.
