It was lost within awesomeness that is the western alphabet. It does that sometimes, the western alphabet. It's so awesome and flawless it just can't help it.

Also: I nominate that in solidarity with the linguaphiles discussing Dan Brown on livejournal we use "Jesus Christ.  Let's try the kanji." as our new moniker for getting smacked in the face with the captain-obvious-bat.

*I presume it is. I don't watch Lost, but each time I have seen part of an episode it seems to have the same formula.

I think you're reading too much into the post; "struggled with kanji for 17 years" could mean almost anything, and there's certainly a lot more to kanji than is taught by Heisig.  I bet most native speakers would agree with the statement "I've struggled with kanji for X years)," where X = their age.

Yes, but you have to capitalize the K. Let's try the Kanji.
