Is there a way to extend time for "Show recent posts"?

Currently "Show recent posts" refers to http://forum.koohii.com/search.php?action=show_24h but what if I would like to use something like "search.php?action=show_48h"?

I'd like something like that too, though having multiple pages is the solution that occurs to me.

I'll put this on my todo list for after the Hanzi forum.

48h or 72h ?

I don't care one way or the other, but I'd think making it dynamic (e.g. you could use 48h, 60h, 29h, whateverh) would be the ideal design.  Then people could pick whatever hour interval they wanted and add their browser bookmark for it.

The more the merrier. 192h (1 week + 1 day) would be great.

I second this. Great idea!

Indeed, I was thinking of having the time as parameter so the API could look like:
"search.php?action=show_recent&time=$time"

The current behaviour could be expressed with:
"search.php?action=show_recent&time=24h"

The duration of 1 mouth could be:
"search.php?action=show_recent&time=1m"

I can't really tell what's the easiest format of $time to deal with.

Coming up with a good UI is another matter. Having a fixed set of intervals limits number of options and UI for this feature might be simpler. OTOH, you could have an extra field for specifying the $time on the search page (http://forum.koohii.com/search.php). Text field would allow for the greatest flexibility but is a bit geeky, drop down list with just several time intervals is probably what most people would be able to cope with.

Please try the new Show recent posts feature on the Hanzi forum, and let me know what you think. Once we decide what time intervals you like best, I'll enable it on this forum (of course there are more topics here so we can continue to tweak those values after you test it here).

I can accept any number of hours, but then I realized it's not good for website analytics. It is important for the webmaster to see what pages are used most, for example I can see that show_24h is used about seven times as much as show new posts (which is probably tied to the guest/member ratio).

With 24h, 48h, and 1 week, I have just 3 different query strings which I can add up to get an estimate of usage. Unfortunately the way it works, it would create too many query strings with completely custom values.

Let me know what other two settings you would like best besides 24h.

That was quick! Thank you Fabrice.

I'm quite happy with those three choices as they are now in the Hanzi forum.

I like it as I don't check every day. Anything over a week is likely not of interest unless it's in a subscribed topic. Great update.
