Hi,
some of you might remember AnkiWarrior. Well, I have made a new plug-in to overcome some design drawbacks; it is called AnkiEmperor. You can find it in Anki's shared plugins.

Here is a copy of the description text:
---------------------------------------------
AnkiEmperor is a plug-in to add another level of fun to reviewing cards in Anki by providing a game-like scenario.
With AnkiEmperor, you will earn gold for each card answered. This gold can be used to unlock new cities and build constructions (such as parks, skyscapers, famous sightseeing spots) within these cities.
As you earn more gold and build more constructions, your rank will improve.
How long will it take you to become Emperor?
AnkiEmperor is an extensive enhancement of AnkiWarrior. I have decided to create AnkiEmperor after a lot of community input on AnkiWarrior.
Please note that after installing/updating AnkiEmperor, the first start of Anki might take a few seconds longer as usual as the AnkiEmperor database is created/updated.
Tested on Windows 7, Windows XP and Ubuntu 11.10. On some systems the font size is a little bit too big. This will be fixed in a future release.
Features of AnkiEmperor include:
- Earn gold by answering cards and build constructions
- Your rank advances based on gold and constructions
- Fanfare sound and message on major achievements
- Scoreboard to compare with other players (Total and average score)
- Initially 7 cities in Japan
- Additional countries, cities and constructions in future updates
- Automatic update check for new AnkiEmperor version
---------------------------------------------
For the future I will probably first fix any bugs which will come up in the first days after the release. Soon afterwards, I want to create a webpage where everybody can upload his/her favourite spots, cities and countries and integrate these with AnkiEmperor. Would be nice to have the whole world to choose from.
This way, AnkiEmperor might also be useful as some kind of tourist guide, we can all discover places we didn't know about.
The problem with AnkiWarrior was that it was fixed from the beginning. Now with AnkiEmperor, there are no limits and additional constructions, cities or even countries can be added with later updates.
You can use AnkiWarrior and AnkiEmperor at the same time, although I personally think AnkiEmperor is more interesing and there is no need to use AnkiWarrior anymore.
I would be really glad to get any feedback about AnkiEmperor. Please do not hestitate to contect me here or via e-mail. AnkiEmperor is based on a lot of ideas wich came up in the AnkiWarrior thread. Thank you for that! I hope you will enjoy this new plug-in.
Additionally I have created a Website to add new cities (for now only in Japan) and constructions: http://ankiemperor.hallojapan.de/viewCities.php
If you have favourite spots in Japan which you would like to see in AnkiEmperor, please add them using the website! They will be included in an update release of AnkiEmperor, which means more constructions to build for everybody

Could you consider adding a per-deck disable feature? I have 4 decks, one of which is for German, and the cards there go much, much faster than Japanese (300 cards for 15 minutes). I tried disabling Emperor for it, but afterwards realized, halfway through my Jap deck, that the setting was anki-wide and all my decks were affected

Also, is there a way to have AnkiWarrior not overtake the right-hand panel thing? (Without disabling it.)
I tried to look into this, but I don't understand exactly what you mean. Are you taking about AnkiWarrior overtaking AnkiEmperor? Or did you mean AnkiEmperor? In The AnkiEmperor settings, you could disable "AutoOpen" (for each deck), which would keep AnkiEmperor running in the background but prevent it from automatically opening on deck load.

The bug is now fixed in 1.0.1 (available for download in the shared plugins, you should also get an info in AnkiEmperor on your next start) and deck options are now only deck wide
In general it would be interesting to know how you feel about the progress you're making n AnkiEmperor. Too slow, fast or just right? That would be interesting for adjustments of the algorithm. Also the amount (i.e. number of cards) you study each day would be intersting.
