Everyone who has lived in Japan for any length of time knows that certain things or images are closely associated with a season, and vice-versa. This goes well beyond what I was used to in America, where seasonal associations don't go very far beyond snow=winter.
Anyway, I was reading the Japanese Wikipedia article for 桜, and came across this word: 風物詩 (ふうぶつし）
Things which remind someone of a particular season. A big thing in Japanese culture, but I had never heard the word until now.
