I hit the 3/4th mark. The radicals seem to be used in >5 kanji or so instead of  30 kanji in a row with all the same radical. Which is making this last bit difficult. I have come so far I shall not give up I am immortal! I have inside me blood of kings!

On one hand, I'm there too now (finished lesson 39 yesterday). But on the other hand i'm starting to fail more and more at the reviews. Yesterday i had 12% wrong... Maybe i should just review some days before adding new Kanji?

おめでとうございます! Yes, if you see your retention rate falling, it might be a good idea to decrease the number of 漢字 you add. Or you take some days off to let the reviews die down a little, and redact some of the stories, if they are too weak to be remembered easily. smile

Congrats! I'm on frame 1410 right now, but I already knew about 1,000 before hand so I'm probably about 3/4 done too.

I actually started in 3/21/2011, so it's kind of a 2 month anniversary too. I went through about 6k+ vocabulary list before RTK, and now when I go through it again, I am starting to notice even more Kanji combinations that form certain words.

I love how the community helps make stories with the kanji. Great job!

Finally hit the 3/4 mark!  It took me 77 days to get here so a little bit behind schedule (was on pace to do it all in 80 days).  But that's because my reviews were getting to be 200 + new cards so I decided to take 2 weeks off from adding new cards (reviews are down to about 80-90 a day + new cards now).

I also recently started doing Pimseuler during my daily work commute which has given me renewed vigor to finish RTK1.  Also it's amazing how many pens I have gone through due to this.  Before RTK I had never used a pen all up before losing it and now I have killed 2 pens!  Not to mention, seeing a graph pad full of Kanji (9358 to be exact) is really awesome.

Hello,

It's my first post here and I'd like to thank everyone who contribute to this website.

I finished lesson 39 last week-end. I think I began in january, but I kinda gave up for almost two months.
I found the koohii site when I was at 800 kanji or something and it made it a lot easier. I'll post my own stories later (in French, sorry big_smile).
I use paper card to do my reviews, it takes more place but i can do whatever I want with it (like taking it at work ^^)

I'll begin the last quarter tonight, i hope my head won't explode before i finish it...

Congrats to everyone who made it.
I just managed to get back on track after giving up at ~900 RTK. I'll try hard and get as close to the finishing line as you all!
Let's go!

3/4 finished! My plan is to finish the rest in the next six days with 30 days in total my goal. I'm starting to get bored and if I don't finish it soon I never will, an if I take a break I'll never come back to it.

Congrats to everyone else who made it this far and who will make it this far.

I thought exactly the same thing when i finished the 3/4, but i feel like it's becoming harder and harder. Since two weeks, i only did 150 kanjis...

Don't burn out now! It's okay to go steady and slow.
Edit: I hit the 1400 now. I understand what you mean, but I just keep reviewing them over and over, so less and less Kanji slip by. It just works out with time. There's no such thing as "hard" Kanji - some just need more time to stick.

Finally here (1560) the end is so close. I can't wait to be able to focus full time on grammar / reading.

Congrats Kysen on reaching the 3/4 mark!

I've just finished Lesson 40 (Kanji no. 1585) today and I can say that the last quarter stint has been an incredibly hard slog with crazy interruptions and difficulty with the gigantic number of primitives.

I've rewarded myself with a glass of Laphroaig. Just a quarter to go!

Made it! Finished chapter 39. Seems like Heisig's run out of useful primitives though. Primitives like cornucopia (which I found was easiest to relate to Thanksgiving, though I'm not even American) and rice seedling are rather frustrating to make stories for.

Just finished frame 1550 today. Opposed to most of the people in this thread, I'm liking having primitives for only a few Kanji each. It feels like I have less chance to mix up the characters, and I don't need to make a billion stories relating to one thing anymore. (I've almost had enough of Spiderman and his zany adventures!) Though, there haven't really been any primitives unfamiliar to me yet since I knew a lot of Kanji before I started.

Anyway, the last posters of this thread are probably close to finished if not finished, so congratulations to them, and I hope to join you all in 10 or so days!

Wahey, just finished Lesson 39! I envy you guys with your old editions though, having done 1650 to get to this point! Still, it's nice to already be up-to-date with the new approved kanji. Worst offender in my deck so far? 滞, stagnate, of all things, with no less than 9 failures! Think I've firmly brute-forced it now, but nothing was sticking!

I'm speeding up a lot now; I'd rather get to the end asap! Aiming to finish in a week!

Probably won't matter now, but if it helps: I picture draining a bathtub where the water suddenly stagnates. Reaching in the tub you pull out a sash that had clogged the drain.

Anyway, I'm almost done! I plan to finish on the 19th for no other reason than that's exactly one year since I joined these forums. smile

Thanks mcaruso, that would have helped had it been a little earlier! Although honestly the real culprit was sash - I think it's just a quirk of the reviews that 'stagnate' has been putting sash in short-term memory before it comes up every time. I think sash was just a little too weird for that stage of the game - it is one of the first odd looking ones really.

Well done everyone else who's on the home straight!

I can't believe I've got this far to be honest.
I'm on 1651 cards (just finished chapter 39 in 6th edition). I seem to have picked up an extra card somewhere... ;^__^

Hopefully I can finish this off in the next two weeks. That's my aim anyway.

Congratulations to all those who've got this far and good luck for the last 1/4!

I'm here too, after 3 and a half months, but I'm slowing down more and more. I'm really finding it hard to motivate myself lately. Regardless, I'll see it through no matter what.
