Hi,

Would it be possible to include flashcards for radicals? Obviously they are repeated alot in the kanji but I still find myself forgetting them, especially the less common ones,  and I consider each to be much more important than any 1 kanji. If possible I'd like to be able to add multiples as well, for ones that become altered or I have given different names.

I wouldn't mind adding radical flashcards but:

* You probably meant "primitives". These are part of RTK Copyrighted work and my arrangement so far with James Heisig has been that there are no specific entries for the primitives, as that would more or less make the book redundant.

* Assuming you meant radicals, then another problem is to get good pictures for each radical. Pictures can be generated from fonts, for best quality. But fonts do not contain all radical components, AFAIK.

So I would need to put up a list of characters that best match each radical, and then draw the missing ones. That's quite a lot of work so while I like the idea it'll be on my "someday/maybe" todo list, at least until RevTH is done.

Unicode has characters for most radicals, and this page has images for the rest:

Heisig's primitives are based on the standard 214 radical set, but he extends it by another hundred or so. I once posted a table comparing them Primitives vs. Radicals.

Many new fonts will display all the radicals and their common variations. Older fonts may not. The radicals that don't display in some fonts are as follows:

2.    丨
90.    丬(爿)
104.    疒
114.    禸
122.    罒 (网)
140.    艹 (艸)
162.    辵、辶、辶
163.    阝 (邑)
170.    阝 (阜)

The variants (shown in brackets above) should display correctly in all fonts.

Quite a few of the primitives don't appear as separate units in any font, though.

Sorry for being so slow to reply after everyone was so quick.

I did meen primitives, but radicals would be almost as good. Will people be able to share flashcards like they share stories? If so, the response to this thread suggests that that would mostly solve the problem of compiling a set (for ファブリス at least^^).

Thanks for the useful replies (which was all of them tongue).
