I saw this in a magazine, but was not sure what it meant:

疲れて泥のように眠る。dakara 正体がなくなる。

If you look up what ~のように means I'm sure the answer will come to you.

From Akiyama's book "Japanese Idioms"

Phrase: 陰になり日向になり
(kage ni nari hinata ni nari)
Literal meaning: both in the shade and the sun
Actual meaning: both openly and discreetly

Example Sentence: 彼女は陰になり日向になり私の経歴を助けてくれました。
(kanojo wa kage ni nari hinata ni nari watakushi no keireki wo tasukete kuremashita.)
Meaning: She supported my career both openly and discreetly.
