Hey everybody!

I was just wondering what the typical amount of reviews is for one day (in anki), I know it differs depending on how far into RTK you are but I was wondering if somebody could tell me how you should be aiming for at certain points in the book. I'm asking this question because I'm only up to frame 100 and my review for tomorrow is 29. Is this a big number for where I'm at?

Don't worry about the number of reviews other people have.  Do what's comfortable for you.  If you only feel comfortable doing 30 cards a day, then stop using anki after doing 30 cards.

For instance, lets say you have 20 reviews tomorrow.  Do 10 new cards so you end up doing 30 cards total.  The next day you might have 25 review.  Do 5 new cards so you end up doing 30 cards total.  The next day you might have 40 reviews.  Don't do any new cards.  You don't even have to all 40 reviews if you really don't want to (although, I would recommend you always do all your reviews for the day).  The following day you might have 28 reviews.  Do 2 new cards.

If you follow this pattern, you will always be doing about 30 review, so every day will be pretty easy.

That's not to say you need to stick with 30 reviews.  People who rush through RTK in a month are probably doing about 400 cards a a day (I think).  People who take 3 months are probably doing about 200 cards a day.  You get done a lot faster this way, but it takes much more effort.

Another way people do it is to make a point to always do X new cards a day.  Doing 10 new cards a day lets you finish RTK in 200 days, 50 new cards a day lets you finish in 40 days.

If you do it this way, I believe your reviews slowly build up.  For instance if you do 50 new cards a day, by your 1000th card you may have about 250 reviews per day, but by your 2000th card you may have about 500 reviews per day.

I would recommend going at a pace where you won't burn out.  Also, feel free to start studying other stuff while you're doing RTK.  It won't hurt anything.

Awesome, thanks for the tips, that's a cool method I might try out for a while.

Well, I go at a steady 30 a day, and reviews go from 100 to 150, if I stop adding cards for a few days (which I did for diablo 3 :p) reviews go down quite quickly to 60-70 a day. I'm currently at ~1300 kanji.

The one week break was half way through will probably skew the findings I'll give completely, but I didn't feel any large increase in reviews from 300 to 1000. Anki takes care of it for you since cards will exponentially increase in interval times.

I do around 20 cards per day, and the reviews were pretty steady at about 80 per day. When i started doing 40 on weekends, and 20 on weekdays, the reviews shot up to about a hundred sometimes.

I only use this site for review thou, the rate of review may be different from anki
