I have a lot of free time and I like to use that to review the kanji alot, but I just found out I can only do it once per day, is there any way to re-review them?

Thanks.

Don't do it.

1) It's a waste of time. Your SRS will make sure you review enough to not forget it.*

2) It's bad for you. One of the main factors of memory strength (stability) is time since last recall. By reviewing more often than you need to, you're actually reducing memory stability (along this factor anyway; there are other factors in memory stability so this usually doesn't harm you too much).

* Actually you will forget some. SRS does a speed vs accuracy trade off to increase interval length greatly at a minor cost in forgetting a small %. See forgetting index. Anything less than 20% is no cause for concern and will be picked up eventually.

I assume you're using this site's review system which I don't know much about, but I just wonder why you want to use that extra time to unnecessarily review instead of just adding more characters to the piles? The algorithm of a spaced repetition system is supposed to take care of the learning by itself while the user just reviews according to the scheduling, reinforced short term review kinda works against the way it's supposed to work.

If I were you I'd use that free time to add more cards, completing RTK as quick as you can without overdoing it is more valuable (to me) than taking your time and nailing the reviews along the way. You can always keep reviewing for as long as you want when you're finished, while you also can move on to other more fun studies.

since it fits with the topic in a way, would using anki along with this site be a problem?

Using both results in overreviewing, whose drawbacks overture already listed. If you have the free time to review more than usual, just increase the amount of new kanji - this won't lead to having the extras become unmemorizable, but will increase your daily review count for as long as you maintain the new daily learning amount. If you decrease the amount of new kanji per day back to the old number, in a week, the daily reviews will too go back to normal.

I've increased my daily new cards to 100 a day for a prolonged time period without falling into an endless spiral of ever-increasing review count and memory collapse. It can be increased far more from my experience. If you are still worried to go over 150, start core6k early, but not in order, instead, manually add words with kanji you already know (it tends to start with kanji learned at the end of the book, and even has some from the supplement).

There's no point really. The algorithm isn't perfect, but the idea is to review only the cards you will forget soon. By reviewing early your are doing the equivalent of non SRS flash cards.

Like others have said, if you have time add more cards.

What I do is set aside 2 hours a day (all I can spare) and use that time to review and add cards. I always finish my reviews, but I don't always have enough time to add cards.

What is the default intervals to reviewing cards?

I didn't see any mention to the time period between reviews. I know it varies based on your number of reviews and if you have problems with the card. I heard you can also review once a day.

The issue is I went on vacation and return to studying two weeks ago. I feel I need to refresh myself on some cards, but I was only able to review several once!  Do I really have to wait until the next review comes up? I am curious how long that will be?

NOTE: I am a returning student and restarted my Kanji count. I am at 100 Kanji, and about half were last reviewed 3 weeks ago! They still haven't come up for review again. Is that normal?

The intervals are listed in the "Scheduling" section of the Learn More page. For example, if you've answered a card correctly 4 times in a row, you then won't see it again for about 30 days.

Just add more cards or be more harsh about your answers, there is no use in reviewing same cards more than once per day.

Thanks HelenF!

And yes Meeatcookies, I agree being harsh in your answers is good. I find if I don't feel I really grasped a Kanji correctly I will often mark it "No" (not learned), so I can study it further, even if I got it right because I was only "guessing".

When you start out the book it's normal to want to review up to a hundred cards a day. That's what I did. Until you get to 500 cards or so and it becomes increasingly difficult to make sure you get to review everything.

The way you can do this for the time being, is to go to the Manage page, delete cards eg. "1-50", re-add them and review the blue stack. Stories are not affected. Understanding you do this for cards you have been adding recently.

Thanks ファブリス, Its good to know you can delete, and re-add cards while retaining the stories!

I did notice that the first time I started using this site, and I was at 300+. Especially when I took a short month long break. I am starting over at 100 now, but will be back up there soon.
