Using images with Core?

Hi,

I am working my way through Core 6K. The decks I have do not have the images that used to be on the smart.fm site.

I wanted to ask those who have done this already whether they found the images helped or not. I have just started to test it out by google/image-ing the vocab word and finding a suitable image to put on manually. However, this takes a bit of time and can add up when done for each card (I am adding quite a lot of new vocab cards a day). Whilst this may be aiding my memory/association, it may also be a lot of procrastinatory busy work.

In your opinion did the accompanying images help at all, is this worth continuing?

For me it seemed to work as well as the keyword association wise after seeing it so many times on each card. But I honestly don't think it helps you remember, atleast I never noticed any retention differences between decks.

I don't think so. This is just speculation, but if anything having images can serve as a "memory crutch" before the cards are mature, and in real-life context without the image you might have a harder time.

If you're interested I think images for the Core 2k deck are linked in Nukemarine's stickied guide thread. Maybe you could experiment with those.
