Hi there and happy new year!

I figured that there are a lot of people here who also learn Chinese and could help me deciphering what is written on this Chinese new year's good luck charm (one you attach to your door, for example in Malaysia). I recognize most of the hanzi that are common in Japanese but some I either don't know or can't read it because of the calligraphy.

It would be great if someone could help me because my sister bought this for the (Chinese) new year 2011 and it wouldn't be great to reuse this, if it has no direct mention of the year in it.

Isn't this a great challenge to test your calligraphy deciphering skill! *cough*
Go for it! smile

Looks like:
庭中有竹月更圓
天上無雲春常在

There must be some symbolic meaning buried in here, because it looks like:
Bamboo in the garden
A rounder moon
No clouds in the sky
Always spring

Thanks a lot JimmySeal!

That looks good! I couldn't for the sake of me tell what 圓, 天 and 春 were, but it makes sense. smile

I looks like a more or less generic charm with a list of desirable things to me. At least I see no indications of a dependence on the year.

This was very helpful, thank you!
