There used to be a deck in the anki shared decks database called "Japanese Core 10000 with audio v2", but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. I can't find any external site hosting it, so I'm wondering if there's anyone here that have it and could do me the favour of uploading the deck + media folder to rapidshare or somesuch?

I don't have this deck, but have you tried the Japanese corePlus deck? There is a link to the audio for it somewhere in this forum. It says where in the instructions for the deck. It also has around 10,000 entries.

How do you import that to Anki? Are you supposed to keep it in a compressed file when importing?

Uncompress the zip file first, and then you'll have an .anki file that you can import into Anki.

The Mediafire link only has the zipped deck (15 MB), not the media (739 MB).

That's the link for the audio from the Nukemarine thread. Unfortunately all links for the images I've found were hosted on MU.

I don't think megaupload is coming back, so guess you guys need an alternative.

I'll try to upload the media files this weekend.

The easiest thing to do would be to upload the deck plus media as an Anki shared deck, but 785MB might be too big--I tried this last year, but (if I recall correctly) it timed out before I could upload the whole zip file.

These are not compatible with the Core 10,000 deck, the filenames are different. For example, the Nukemarine munged zip uses names such as 01b66ef0bb41b936eaf6a214742043ca.mp3, 08b3798b801cad5f4bf8503530a6f575.mp3 and so on, while the Core10Kv4 deck uses js00013a.mp3 and jw05588a.mp3 (s for sentences, w for words).

Anyway, I'm uploading the complete Core 10,000 v4 to FreakShare, but it's going to take a while. The total size is 723 MB compressed with 7-zip and 860 MB when decompressed, and my upload speed isn't that great right now.

There's Wupload (2GB), FreakShare (1 GB), NetLoad.in (400 MB), MediaFire (200 MB), and others among the decent ones, and there's also the extremely slow ones for free users, such as Oron and DepositFiles, which aren't worth using.

Here it is, all in one package, ready to use:
Filename: Core10Kv4.7z (727.26 MB,  860 MB decompressed)

*横から質問する*
But is the audio available for all sentences/vocab of core10k??

there are 19,000+ files inside
2 files per deck: one for word and one for sentence
so i guess that around 99.9% is available smile

Every card has word and sentence audio, but there are two cases in which the audio is incorrect:

駐車 する とき に 車庫 の 壁 を 擦って しまった。
As I was parking I scraped the wall of the garage.
(Speaker pronounces 車庫 as そうこ, perhaps incorrectly reading as 倉庫.)

この 仕事 は きつい が 得る もの も 多い。
This work is hard, but it has many benefits too.
(Sentence audio doesn't match the sentence text.)

@mmhorii: That was very helpful, thanks a lot!!

Edit: I have the files (audio), too now. How about making a torrent for all of us guys?! Could seed with 180kb/s for a few days, if someone needs it~"

@mmhorii: thank you for the input
@Tori-kun: torrents are usually good for very popular files where at any given moment you would find somebody sharing the file, while for those files we would have very little people sharing the files for a short time, then in a couple of weeks the files would be deprived of any seeders...i prefer uploading the files to as many file-locker websites as possible smile

Thanks for this smile

But I'm really curious... 6000 sentences are from core 6000, right?
What is the source of the other 4000 sentences?

I tried searching but couldnt find an answer...

Well, core2k is the 'first' deck, so to speak. It contains 2000 sentences (cards) and when you go further you go up to core6k, which means that additionally 4000 cards are coming up. All in all you will have 6000 then. Hope it's clear? :)

I think he meant where did the new words on this 10k deck come from, the ones that aren't included in the original 6k series. As in, who made the sentences. They weren't made by people who made the original Core 2k/6k series, right ?

All of them are from an iPhone app with sentences licensed from the CJK Institute, the same source Smart.fm used (-4000), with different voice actors. Read more about it here:
japanese 先生 = core 10000?
Core 10,000
