Enjoy your beer! Well-deserved. You've given me a wonderful idea to reward myself with some Yamazaki whiskey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamazaki_Distillery) when I finish RTK smile

Cheers!

YES! took me 7 months but I'm finally finished! Slower than most people here but I'm too happy to care now ^^. Admittedly, I have about 200 reviews due for tomorrow after cramming the last 100 xD.

Finished!
What an experience.
Great stories. What an immensely creative, collective way to study.
Thanks to all of you in the community.

I wish everyone the best. May we meet for a beer on the streets of
Tokyo one day. Team Heisig.

To those still on the road, best of luck. Keep kicking ass.

Congratulations!
It's always good to hear people have finished! I am battling at 1340s, which I strangely read as 1:40 like it is a 24hr clock- as such I feeling little discouraged!
Still, I have to do only 25 a day and I will finish in my goal!
Thank you!

Finished last night - it took 46 days smile
Also, it's my 18th birthday today smile
Also, this is my first post XD

Though to be fair, I still have a LOT of reviews ahead of me (300+ today in fact), so I'm not quite finished yet tongue

Well done to everyone else - it's a great feeling isn't it? big_smile

Finished for the second time!!!!  About 1-2 weeks after I finished the first time my hard drive crashed and I had no backup so I lost all my Anki.  What a horrible feeling, but I'm soooo happy now that I finished the second time and I know it really helped reinforce them.  Took just over a year to finish it twice, whew.  Congrats to shibuyashoeya, MisterM2402, PensukeD, and everybody else.  Whether it took 2 months or 2 years it doesn't matter.  We did it!

Managed to Finish the first book today, took way too long and probably should have used one of those 10/20/30 a day systems to keep up the phase. But at least kept up with the reviews so the extra time has hopefully helped to enforce my memory of most of the kanji.

Still plenty of reviewing to do tough, and still need to add those last 150 kanji to anki  deck (upped the pace a bit in the end and went trough the last 150 within 2-3 days).
But at least for now I won't be adding any new kanji for awhile, and can focus on the reviews and actual the Japanese language.

My biggest  problem with completing the RTK1 was inconsistency, sometimes I let the reviews pile up leaving me 350 kanji to review a day. If I had reviewed and added new cards daily instead of doing 50 kanji bursts every now and then, I could probably have finished the book a lot earlier. After reviewing 150-350 kanji, there's not much motivation to be adding and studying new kanji.

But still, I would like to thank everyone for great stories and tips. Hopefully this site will keep growing and hopefully in the future there will be even better stories for each and every kanji that just makes the memorizing that much easier.

Congratulations to all who came before me!

Today on the glorious 10th of March I, apirx, have singlehandedly defeated the last of 2042 kanji! Actually I added card 2042 yesterday, but since I added almost 200 cards, I had to plow through 470 reviews today. So I can only celebrate now, after finishing those 470 reviews (+ 100 additional, cause I failed a lot due to being very tired. I should not learn kanji till the wee hours, when I got to be at the schoolhouse shortly after nightbreak.).

I started RTK at the 8th of February, that would be exactly 31 days ago. I tried to go at a rate of 100/day, but failed miserably after a few days. I only managed to make it within the month because of my late night sessions during the final week.

Sorry for all the rambling and stuff, but I'm feeling pretty euphoric right now and I just have to tell the internet how awesome I am.

I also want to add I would have never made it without this kick-ass website and community.

To all who have already made it through RTK: You are awesome. And now I am too.

And to everyone else: Keep going. You too can be awesome.

Finished!!! Just reviewed the last 42 cards this morning. Thanks to all who've blazed the trail ahead of me. The imaginative stories on this site and Heisig's genius made this possible. And thank you Fabrice, your site has been indispensable in my kanji studies. Congrats to all above and all those soon to follow. I'll raise my glass to you all tonight at the izakaya!

Finished!!!!!
Phew, last week was busy when I realized I had to put in the supplement aswell if I want to finish with the sign of the bloody snake before the end of the week. Also, the hangover didnt help me with the last few frames today wink
Took me longer than I initially expected, but travelling Japan and flying twice around the world didn't help either...

Well done to everyone in the thread above me and good luck and keep steady to everyone who will sign up below me!

Guys,guys,guys...First of all Congrats.

I hate to say it, but there are another 100 Kanjis ahead of you smile!

Wiki: 196 characters (numbered 1946 through 2141) were added in 2010; five were removed at the same time.

So yes, you're allowed to kick me :-)

Hey, the thread is entitled "I just finished RTK1, please congratulate me", not "I just learned all the Jōyō kanji", so no need to kill the mood smile. As for the 157 kanji that were included in the new list but were not covered by RTK1, Dr Heisig and this site have already taken care of them - http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?id=6111

Yes I'm a smartass big_smile. It's the german version, I'm too lazy to search for the english one. Click the PDF file, and see for yourself smile!

Microsecondedit: You linked it, my bad... In terms of RTK1/Joyo :  As for myself i count them as RTK1 or RTK1 v2. Because Heisig used the Joyo Kanji in the beginning of his book, and updated it as a whole compilation. Just some interpreting issue's smile
