AJATT+ refunds

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has gotten a refund from AJATT+.  I signed up for it recently (Aug 8) for one month.  But then on Aug 12th, I noticed in my Paypal Account that there was a "Recurring Payment", and cancelled it (since I just wanted one month to look at the articles and did not want to pay for a second month).  However, rather than getting a month of access, I got 4 days.  Cancelling the recurring payment also cancelled my access to AJATT+.

During those 4 days I did get a glance at the articles, and they looked fairly interesting, but I didn't get a chance to read them in depth.  So I want a refund.

I submitted emails using the Contact link at regular AJATT (on the 12th and 17th), but have not heard anything back.  And PayPal shows my one-time payment as still having been made (and not refunded).

I've searched the Public side of AJATT, and can't find anything aside from "So try it for a month and see how you feel. If you don’t like it, you can always cancel your subscription and get a refund."

Any clues on what I should be doing to get a refund that I have not already done?

I ask here because there seem to be a fair number of people who are quite familiar with the AJATT site.  Please don't turn this topic into a "Khatzumoto is good vs Khatzumoto is evil" discussion.  Ideally I'd just like to see responses about how to get a refund.

I don't know about silverspoon, but I asked for a refund on one of his products several months after the fact, and I got it fairly quickly (think it was one or two days)

you just send an email to refund [-at-] ajatt [.] com

I also read something somewhere on here about SS refunds only being given out every 18 months, but I don't know about that.

I bought two products from him, well the guide and joined AJATT plus for 1 month. I got my refunds back. Wait on the AJATT plus I didn't ask for a refund, I did ask it for the guide though.

You should get a refund back, just send him an email via paypal or direct email and he'll give it to you. I didn't have a problem for my refund on the guide, so I'm sure AJATT plus is the same

I've never used AJATT, but if you paid through Paypal, you could just dispute the transaction.

yea that's what I meant. Try that email and if it doesn't work, then email him through the paypal. I'm sure he'll get back to you within a few days.

Also I don't know why this is a thread? Yes you stated why you posted it here, but Khatz is the one with your order. You should have just emailed him and he probably would sort it all out for you.

Well what else is AJATT?

AJATT is a website full of one person's musings in English on how to become better at Japanese (and sometimes refers to the techniques described on that website).

AJATT+ is paid subscription access to Japanese translations of those musings, forums with other subscribers only, and product discount incentives, and possibly other content.

Silverspoon is a 'lesson plan' through that website with daily suggestions of what the learner should do to make progress on each day, with content suggestions and some amount of direct feedback.

I never have paid for these services, and am not interested in getting into a 'good vs bad' debate for many reasons, including the request in the original post,

'Please don't turn this topic into a "Khatzumoto is good vs Khatzumoto is evil" discussion.'

I will, however, note that the original post is about the AJATT+ service, which does not have the time limitation of Silverspoon and so refunds for AJATT+ should not have any time restriction on the refund, and that the original post does say he sent emails using the contact link.

I'm not sure if the early suggestion to use the 'refund [-at-] ajatt [.] com' address has been followed or not.

Anyway, it would be nice if the (inevitable?) flamewar and threadlocking could be postponed until we hear back from CJ as to how and whether he/she got a refund.

I posted here because I thought I'd get useful replies, and I did.  As I stated here, I had already emailed him and gotten no reply.

And Kuma01, please stop trying to hijack the thread into another discussion about Silver Spoon.  If you want to start one of those, please start another thread.  I will close the thread if it gets going in that direction, but I'd rather not.  I would like to follow up with details of what method worked best, since it could be helpful to others in the future.  And for those on the other side of the SilverSpoon debate please don't encourage the topic hijacking.

I got my refund.  Khatz replied and asked for:

And the next day I got a refund message from paypal.

If you want a refund, you should be ready to provide that information.

The actual email that worked was one of the ones I sent using the contact page, so he might have just been backlogged.  Anyone asking for a refund should expect a week or so of delay before he gets back to you.
