I completed my Heisig deck a little less than two years ago, and I've beein doing my reviews faithfully ever since. Today I sorted my Anki deck by repetitions, and I noticed that the overwhelming majority of my cards had less than 10 reviews, meaning they're sticking. At the bottom of the list there were some kanji that have had a ridiculous amount of repetitions (see picture) and I guess I gotta stop being lazy and actually alter my mnemonics for them. Funny thing is some of them are really common and I have no problem reading them, but for some reason I mix them up with others when reviewing (f.ex 料 -> 科, 健 -> 侹) but looking at the list I see no particular reason for these ones to be "harder" than any other. I dunno, I just thought it was a fun thing to check.

Which kanji have you been struggling the most with?

None because I don't sit down on my butt like a fool and learn RTK for months and not learn a vocabulary word to it. The brain is like a loose nail in a plank, you need to keep hitting it everyday until its stuck for good. I will assure you will keep coming back to RTK to check the kanji you spent countless hours learning because you're unsure of the compound word.

But to answer your question, anything that has Mr.T in it. His power level is really difficult.

There is a honest concern with confusing two similar Kanjis or Kanji compounds. However, even native Japanese speakers mix up two Kanji. This of course happens when the meaning and pronunciation (accent/intonation) are similar.

Not, learning Heisig Kanji I have encountered similar problems, but tend to work extra hard on them. I find looking at the definitions really help, but I also buy extra material to assist me. I once own "Decoding Kanji: A Practical Approach to Learning Look-Alike Characters," if my memory is correct.

Nice question. I am looking forward to reading more responses.
