Sometimes I end up with kanji in high buckets that I don't really know. This can happen either because I see a kanji on the study page and realize I've forgotten it, or (surprisingly often) I type a 'Y' during a review when I meant to type an 'N'. If the kanji is in a high bucket, I might not have a chance to get it back on a frequent review schedule for another year!

Here's my suggestion: On the study page for a kanji, there could be a "Fail this kanji" button.

In the same vein, it would be kind of nice to have the "detailed info" for the kanji (which bucket, etc.) on the Kanji's study page as well as on the chart in the Review section.

Thanks,

Mike

I've also sometimes hit Y instead of N (or vice versa). A fail this kanji button really would be useful.

What about an Expire this Kanji button? Then you'll hit it again next time you go through review.

It would actually have to be a little bit different, since what we want here, I think, is to revert the effects of the last Yes. Something closer to Move Back One Pile & Expire*, or something.

personally, i sometimes wish there was a way to, for the previous kanji to: change your yes/no answer, write down notes for failed ones to help you out: ie you mixed it up with another one (if this was in the form of entering the keyword, you could have a system where when you are initially learning stories, you can see the most frequent mixups with that kanji, and avoid them yourself) .. additionally, it would be nice to have a way to mark if you got the story right, but not the positioning.

personally, i think the ability to give feedback on mistakes is a more important issue than the marking yes or no, which happens only every once and a while, and when it does, you just either review a single kanji like 5 more times (like 1 min total added time to studying) OR, you forget a kanji because you failed it and then didnt review (how is this different than failing it in the first place, you will just get it the next time around)

If we could go back one card and change our answer...

That would solve the problem, wouldn't it?

It's intuitive and can be done at the same moment the mistake was made.

We could call it... Undo! big_smile

"Move Back One Pile & Expire" is a much better name than undo

I've done this more times than I'd like to admit. A button that lets you go back to the last card during review sections would be wonderful. Skylarth's suggestions would be nice in the future too though, as often by the time I get around to reviewing my failed cards I can't remember what I needed to work on with it.

I'm bumping this thread as a feature to manually fail a kanji not scheduled for revision would be really great. I've clicked yes by mistake a few times already.

Also if I fail to recognize or write a kanji I should know in another context (like reading a real text) I'd like to be able to look it up in the study section and mark it as failed.

I've done this, too ... it's a moment of terror, realizing you had no clue what kanji was until you actually saw it, and knowing that you had just sent it into the distant future of reviews.

I'd love to be able to manually flag a certain kanji as "failed," without having to review a whole stack of un-scheduled cards to find it again.

The site's great as-is, however, and I don't want to make it seem like I'm asking for too much!  It's wonderful, especially as the free resource that it is.  Whatever you decide to do ... keep up the good work.
