Thanks buonaparte and howtosavealife3, I took down the broken link (couldn't find it anywhere else, must have died!), and I added the chatting website.

If you've got an Anime or Jdrama and it's in .mkv format. I've been extracting the audio from these files using this:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVcleaver
it takes the file and you are able to check what you want to extract from it (video, audio track1, audio track 2, subtitle, English, Japanese track, etc.)

Which requires mkvtoolnix:

And also vlc media player, I use this media player for its ability to loop specific sections of audio or dialogue that I find interesting (AB loop feature) as opposed to just rewinding the video to that spot again and again, which can be a pain when looking up words and grammar. I think it works for video but i'm not sure if it supports .mkv files.

I can't find Kotoba! Dictionary in the appstore, ive tried to find out more information about why this is happening but no luck. Has the app been taken down or renamed?

Thanks

Wow, you are right Mochi! I can't find the Kotoba! app anywhere either. I tried going to the home page listed in the app in the "About" section, and Safari says it can't open the page because there's no server. I haven't tried other dictionaries, so I can't give other recommendations. Anyone have some? I wonder if the app was bought out by a company. I'll put a note that it doesn't seem to exist anymore. This is very sad!

kmplayer has that too. the a & b loop. you press f5 to set point A and f6 to set point B and f8 to turn the loop on/off. it also lets you rewind with the subtitle timing like you press [ to go to the previous subtitle and ] to go to the next subtitle.

Thanks howtwosavealif3, but we're looking for a free iPhone App, I don't think rikai sama is available for iPhone from what I could find, just regular personal computers.

Updated the Intermediate Reading Practice section with the "NHK News Easy" website, that Alec_xvi shared with us in this recent thread: http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?id=10638

Thanks Alec!

I also added a few short/light novels that people might want to look at for their first light novel (this is in section 1, materials that are not free).

I hope Japanese is going well for everyone :-).

@Jishera:
I saw some posts from a while ago about Kotoba! so I thought I'd update.

Kotoba! ran into issues with another company claiming use of the name.   It is now called Imiwa?   (the question mark is part of the name) and has had several improvements.
