Hi,

I just started Remembering the Kanji 1 - 6th Edition. The 6th edition has added 196 kanji. These new kanji have been intermixed within the list, so now the list on this site does not match the book. For example, "elbow" is now frame 46, so all frames thereafter are off and as more new kanji are introduced in the book, they become more and more "off". The last kanji in the 6th edition is "sign of the snake", frame 2200 and on this site it is frame 2042. This also effects my LexiKAN software (even more-so).

Are there any plans to update this list or create a new list to match the 6th edition?

Wayne

I wouldn't bother waiting for the site to be updated, just learn the odd kanji out of order, and learn the extra 196 on your own or in a different srs. Just finish RTK1 with 90% recall and move on. Once you're reading a lot of Japanese and have learned 100s of extra kanji independent of RTK you'll realise how uncritical it is to get it all nail it all down perfectly at this point.

Obviously if you can't current search by frame numbers, you can try searching for kanji on this site via the keywords. Most of the keywords should hopefully be the same.

Thanks. Yes, that is what I was doing. It's not that big of deal on this site, because I am using it as a reference, and like you say, I can search by keyword, which still match-up.

However, if you were to try to use this site to quiz yourself on say the first 100 frames, it would now show you flashcards that aren't in the first 100 frames in the 6th edition and it would be missing any of the new kanji that have been added to the first 100 frames in the 6th edition.

I realize that I can use the custom selection option to add the specific cards that I want, but that is a lot more work. tongue
