So today I was reminiscing on my year in Japan (2010) and was thinking about all the different TV commericals I saw while I lived over there. I couldn't find a thread on this, so I thought why not start one where we can post all the Japanese TV commercials we love, hate, despise etc.

I'll start off

1. House Pancettar/ハウスパンチェッター. Seriously, could there be anything more annoying?

2. Ring a Ding Dong Docomo. Makes me want to scratch my ear drums out...

3. Softbank - お父さん I freakin love this dog!!!

I know there are plenty of others - some really funny ones, but I haven't come across them yet. No 1 and 2 just stick in my mind due to the sheer annoyance they create for me.

Actually, there was one on TV in Sendai that was another shocker. I can't remember exactly what it advertised, but there was this chick leaning/hugging a tree and all she said was みみみみみみみみみみみみみみみ、ああああ 蚊が and slapped her leg. It went on for ages and ages and ages...

There was that retarded bunch of advertisements during the earthquake period. I, thankfully, have forgotten the name of the company, but the one with the kid helping the old lady up the stairs makes me want to commit suicide.

(I recently saw a TV presenter try to pull this on an old lady going up to a restaurant and she, rightly, told him where to go. She instantly earned my respect - "don't mess with me, youngster. Where's my cane!"

Source JapanProbe <--- two of the main offenders.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkEdeBFM … re=related <--- I puked when I watched this. It was full of blood due to the eruption of the liver due to the sheer pressure of my stomach unburdening itself. Ah, the agony...

Thankfully, I was saved by this...

After March earthquake, TV in Japan was literally flooded by annoying AC commercials. This one was particularly outrageous:

With the part between 0:12 and 0:18 I really felt I could throw the TV through the window.

Fortunately, we can also get a bit of humor and a fine piece of creativity from it:

@gesserit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-Lzcluv7JM was FANTASTIC. Lol, I love that it was 'thanks, bunny'. It reminds me of what English schools are doing to take advantage of the earthquake - English will save our the poor souls of XXX.

Anyone seen the highly insulting touch de pon advertisements? They really put the boot in on white people`s Japanese abilities. Honestly Japan is pushing the boundaries of being quite offensive at times, I feel that if someone put stuff like this in ads back home there would be an uproar.

Not the best examples, but on short notice it's all I could find:

to be fair it's more like paying to watch good looking people shot with really good effects... who happen to be advertising something

Well I didn't realise you had to pay until I actually went to the website...but yeah I agree the concept is a little dodgy.

Lotte Fit commercials - listen at your own risk, as the
jingle will stay in your head forever!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5iBFwCgRU8

If you do, then the "lyrics" are on the screen starting at 4:48,
along with Sasaki Nozomi's instructional video on what has become
Japan's national dance...

Judging from the videos, this gum must contain some very weird
substances...

Honestly, I've watched those commercials many times but the jingle never stuck in my head, only the cute girls did, LOL!

BTW, I love the weird things that happen in the background!

Reading this thread reminded me of a CM I saw a couple of years ago. I had a real hard time tracking it down again but I finally found it.

It isn't funny or weird, but the reason it stuck with me was because of the stark contrast between the contents of the CM and what was being advertised.めちゃ感動した(*´Д`)
