What's happened to Icecream?

I've just noticed that user Icecream has deleted all of her posts, and edited all threads she started to remove any text from her.

For example, I had these threads bookmarked as they were excellent, but now they're gone:

http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?id=4015
http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?id=3591

Also the Ask Magamo thread is confusing to read, as she's deleted all of her contributions (thankfully magamo uses quotations):

http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?id=4838&p=1

There are countless other drama threads that I constantly found useful but are now are lost.

It's a real shame; I understand if you want to remove personal information from this site, but why remove threads related to Japanese learning, especially considering how many people took the time and effort to respond. Sure she has her reasons, but still a pity sad

The only reason for such a drastic move is abuse from the community.  I didn't see anything happen to her, but I've definitely been verbally (character-ally?) attacked on this site.  There's no room for that, no matter what you think of someone or their posts.

It's possible that she was harassed by IM and that's why it seems like it happened out of the blue.

Slow rage quits are a problem on other boards, too, and I've actually seen forums go so far as to put things in place to prevent it, rather than prevent the actual problem.

Also, it's possible she got hacked and isn't doing it.

She said in a post a couple of weeks ago something akin to the fact that for practical reasons Japanese will never be able to play a super-big role in her life, and it's just not worth all the effort.  She said that she's going to stop studying new stuff, but do a little to keep up a bit with some of what she already learned.  (I hope I'm getting the jist of it right--I hate it when people misquote me, haha)

It could just be that she's made a decision and did it to make sure she would stick with the decision?

I have her real e-mail, I believe.  Maybe I should send her an e-mail and make sure everything's alright?

I noticed that she stopped following me on smart.fm and lang-8 as well. Though she did send me an enthusiastic personal email about her experience in Nagoya last month. It is very strange.  I wonder if she is okay.

I find that hard to believe; this is one of the safest forums I've ever been on! Any trouble instantly results in ban/thread-lock, fabrice is a responsible admin.

Oh - so maybe this is to with her internship in Japan? Hope she's ok..

How to not puke while trying to learn to program?
Japanese Photographers / Artists etc.

please can anyone recommend a happy drama?
recording from DVD
d-addicts is gone?!!??
....and on and on....   Where is her chief pal Kazelee?   She was one of the most pleasant personalities on this site.  I think even Nestor was growing fond of her judging from some nice kind things she said about Icecream recently.

Really? Anything that we haven't seen everyday in message board communication woes?

As an admin I can't intervene every time someone calls you an idiot. I have to intervene when people become really foulmouthed and/or repeatedly target their negativity at one person.

She couldn't be harassed by email here, because she could just disable the forum email thing. And the forum email is never revealed directly anywhere (only if you respond to the email received).

I have no idea why she edited her posts. But I understand if you get really burnt out, you may feel an adverse reaction. Like you feel you have wasted your time.

I couldn't be bothered myself to edit all my posts. I've quit a few places in the past, I usually just put in a dummy email so I don't receive any more notifications or PMs, and then forget it. Especially if the username has no relation whatsoever with my real name.

That's why I was so surprised; it must have taken considerable time and effort to manually delete 1800+posts.

Really hope she's ok!

I think she got caught in the 八百長 fishnet somehow.
Seriously though, we were supposed to hang out in Kyoto later this month.  I feel very worried not knowing what happened to her.

Melted.

But bad jokes aside, it is very worrying. Why would one go to such an effort to delete their posts?

I'm sure she has her reasons. And I highly doubt it is from abuse inside. I think you ought to have alittle more faith in these forums wccrawford.

I guess she was feeling down and dicided to delete her posts...But why didn't she just delete her account if she wanted to leave? Editing all one's posts seems like it would take a lot more effort...

Oh, you can't? I guess I didn't notice...(^-^; ) I guess she could have just left the forum and never come back then, but going through all the trouble of deleting all her posts...

Melted? I thought Aijin ate her.

Seriously though, it's quite a shame. I liked reading her posts; they were always full of energy.
I can confirm what Tzadeck said, though. And this does smell rather fishy... hope you find her soon.

I don't believe anyone would bother manually deleting 1800+ posts (Unless there's some easy way to do that I'm not aware of). Maybe some kind of hack?

She had a scoop, but the tub wasn't empty.

She didn't delete them all.  She still has 1831 posts under her profile.  She mainly deleted the posts on threads she started it seems.

No, she deleted them all.  Her profile says 1831 because that's how many she made, but if you click that link, you'll see that she deleted all the posts that weren't thread starters, and blanked out the ones at beginnings of threads.

The only posts she didn't modify were the ones in locked threads, which she probably couldn't modify.

I read a thread previously with her posts, like the one resolve just  posted, that can not be deleted because it was locked.  So it seemed all of her posts that could be deleted were.

Very funny.  I hope my modified post is more to your liking.

If its a hack is it reversible? But I somehow doubt it, if I got hacked I'd just create another account and post about that.

I remember that post Tzadeck is talking about and wondered at that time what happened and what changed her mind. Never thought it was serious enough to create such drama.

IceCream seems to be a fairly emotional person.  I wouldn't put it past her to manually delete all her posts, though it does seem rather extreme.  At any rate, I hope she's alright.
