Regional tests are administered by the region, so services vary.

When I took JLPT2 in Canada it was run by my university. Registration and payment was online too, so it was much more convenient than the postal money order etc needed in Japan.

You could try making the phone call in Japanese..

As i see all of you here speaking about N1 or 2 level
Actually i intended to apply N4 this Dec, here in Ukraine.
So may be some one can help me with my questions.

1. In tasks all written in Hiragana or in kanji? Cause for me its easy if it in kanj then wasting time to "decode" the hiragana :-)
2. May be someone can share the link were described different preparation strategy for JLPT.

To answer your question, there are approximately 300 Kanji used at the JLPT N4, so you have to learn them. Here you will find some resources that will help you.

For ex. In medium text reading section to save your time its better not to read passage completely. Better 1st read the question and then search for answers in text.....

The more i think about this test organization the more I'm flummoxed by how long certain things take. Is post that bad in Japan?

I've only ever read a few light novels and manga series, so not bad considering. I was inspired to start reading more on my trip too, so I should start improving.

Drawing inspiration from AJATT and, upon beginning to use RTK, the posts and users on this forum, I dove into native material beginning my second year of Japanese study and never looked back. (I'm not usually one to post on forums, however. :])
With a few months to go in my third year of study I was feeling good about my progress and took the JLPT for the first time.

N1
Vocabulary: 57/60
Reading: 52/60
Listening: 60/60
Overall: 169/180

Now I can begin learning Japanese.

Holy crap dude... Congrats! And while i'm at it, congrats to everyone who passed.

14 months to 2012 December N1... Better get a move on lol.

drdunlap- That's a fantastic mark well done.
I'd like to try N1 again sometime and try to dominate it by getting 90% plus like that.

The thing you get through the post I think has a couple of pages one with your scores and another with your photo and details just saying the level you passed. You could probably seperate them, but why would you want to?
