Piana! That's it! I got one of her albums, deleted it I guess when I was cleaning out my hdd, and I've been trying to remember the name for a while.

I'll definitely check this stuff out since I need more music.

You might like Susumu Yokota. I've only really listened to Symbol, but it's a pretty interesting album. He's done pretty much every form of electronica so there should be something you like.

Lullatone and shugo tokumaru are awesome (though the latter is definitely not electronica)

Google"japshare" on wordpress for more cool, alternative japanese music

I'm very happy that this thread got started as japanese electronic music is really one of my favourite genres! I hope that more people will start to like it.

After Piana my life changed.

You're very right about that:D I just started to like it, very different from any music that I've heard.

This is pretty cool, shamanic?
This shamanic woman's voice and a piano together... and it all somehow makes sense really well together with electronic music.

And this is a wonderful dreamy and colorful video, goes great with his music if you ask me.

Thanks for recommending!

I think Japanese electronic music is pretty well known—for those who like electronic music. Those who aren't electronic music fans, if introduced, would probably like it because it's good, rather than "Japanese." ;p

This is a very pleasant track that I discovered on the "Pop Ambient" series from Kompakt Records. A grest series of ambient music compilations. The series is mostly German artists but these are Japanese.

Surprised no one's mentioned World's End Girlfriend yet. I've seen them a couple times in Shibuya. Amazing stuff.

More trance/progressive trance-ish stuff, as opposed to glitch/ambient, but there's Hiroyuki ODA's "Thirty" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgC8iL3w1PM (a crossfade) -- full tracks are around and the album is actually available via amazon.com/itunes.

I've gotten people I know who hate vocaloid to listen to his one vocaloid album as well, and they liked it, example:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2oqXtciNkE -- same style, just 'vocal'.

Also Onoken -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Q_QHp6j1o

(Also, Kashiwa Daisuke is amazing, yes)

@quincy

I've heard  the name of this band several times, but have never listened to them though, but sounds very nice.

Btw your Filfla video is really good, I like this kind of a style.

Goosh, there's so much good music on this thread.

I'm listening to some albums of these artists, some are a really good find.

Susumu yokata's symbol
that trance vocaloid( unfortunately I didn't find the album of that song)
and I downloaded lots of albums on japshare too.

Experimental, strange? but very good, classical instruments like violins and piano are being used.

A really interesting mix of Kyoka's shamisen and Midori Hirano's electronica.

Unique.
