A lot of posts about watching sc2 but none of actually playing...

I do tend to play regularly, but have been in like a 2 week slump of sucking.

I haven't played in a while.
I've never really concentrated on getting better, but somehow I made it in 1v1 Diamond easily. When I hear about people struggling to get to Diamond I have a really confused look, I never found it hard at all and my win rate hovers around 50% anyway.

Still, 1v1 is one of the most stressful things ever. It takes me a while to actually play 1v1 because of all the pressure.

2v2 was an easy diamond though. I like playing 2v2 because I can screw around.

I haven't played since 1.1.2 though. What is this supply depot-first business?!

I'm not 100% sure this is true, but at least according to the Team Liquid Wiki which league you're in is determined by percentage.  The top 5% of players are diamond.  So by definition, 95% of people will not be in Diamond league.  (Platinum includes the top 20%)  So, it's no wonder everyone is complaining about how they can't get into diamond--they can't.

Am I the only european player here ?  (on Japanese time at least)  Gingerninja 562  If you are and fancy a game.   EU Client, In Osaka. Hopefully there are others..

and yeah I watch it more than I play atm, cos i can have the stream on half screen and still do anki reviews or sit and do other educational things, where as if I'm playing I can't.   Will be playing this weekend for a few hours at least.

Switched to Zerg from Terran lost 8 in a row and was dumped in bronze..  So fighting my way back up again.. sigh.   Wasn't a patch change before anyone asks, all my RL friends play Terran or 'Toss  so I thought I'd be the only Zerg.  Turns out it's a good way to tank your ranking.

there was a panel at blizzcon and i think 1v1 diamond was top 15% or so... i think that's what the panelists said.

i'm not questioning whether or not it's possible...
but it seems like the skill required to get into diamond is not very high? it's one of those "well if they let ME in, how hard can it be?" thoughts. in wc3:tft i couldn't hit level 10 when the levels were maxed at 30, and in BW on iCCup i was somewhere in between D and D-, where I'd crush D- players but lose easily to D players.

The difference between top diamond and low diamond, is easily wider than bronze to low diamond.  Hence why they are adding another 2 leagues above diamond.

Haha I do exactly the same thing (love Win 7 for that "drag me to each edge" feature). But now playing SC2 is not for me, time to gear up for JLPT. Besides poker also wants some attention wink

Oh and I'm european, we can play something after JLPT. I suck though (was in top10 gold before my break).

I felt I was so close to diamond before I started losing non-stop.
I realized why I think, I will play a lot, but only 1 day a week. need to spread that over multiple days.

Raise your hand if you think UMS (or whatever they call it now) is more fun than league play!

Raise your other hand if you suck at the real game so that's why your other hand is all ready raised!

Got EU client, but I don't play alot; mostly because it drains a lot of mental energy for being a game. And since I don't know anyone else playing in EU, I never really cared enough to be any good at it.

Still, I was in mid Gold last time I checked. If anyone wants to play some half-assed matches, I'm up. smile

Yeah, Boxer is the man.  Someone mentioned before that his win percentage was not exactly the highest in BW... but really that doesn't matter one bit because he was always the most interesting to watch play in his prime.  Partly it was because he could beat opponents who completely out-macroed him.  I remember quite a few games where he takes out large zerg armies with like 8 marines and 2 medics.

Anyone else remember a game where he proxies a barracks in an opponents base.  It was a four player map, so he had to scout to find his opponent.  But in order to not reveal his SCV he moved it around right near his opponent's minerals, just out of sight, and listened for the sound of the SCVs mining?  Built the rax there, got the win.

Or, when a lot of money was on the line in a best out of three (maybe it was against July?) he finished the last game with an scv rush accompanied by a couple of marines.

Edit:  The second game I mentioned was against Yellow, and I'm not sure if it was the best out of three or was the last game (the video doesn't say, and I'm too lazy to look it up).  Here it is.

Following GSL2, playing quite a bit.

ZergBong will destroy Foxer... hell, zergbong has not lost a single game in the whole GSL.

Sorry for the bump, but I still want to play SCII with anyone. If it's possible, I'm bored right now. Read post above for my SCII info.

Hey.

My info's
Tzadeck

I finally made diamond 1v1 and I'm rank 17 in my division at the moment.  I remember it being so hard to beat anyone in the first SC, so I feel weird being high rank at SC2.

However, I regularly lose to bronze players if I play Toss or Zerg--I've played both less than ten times--so if you want a punching bag I can do that too.

I don't use the IRC channel, but tell me your info and I'll add you too. Maybe I should use RTK's IRC channel...

Also for anybody who loves watching GOM commentary, these quote videos are hilarious. Watch all of them!

That one game where TSL_GuineaPig played they spent more time talking about guinea pigs than the game.

It's a bit of a necro, but I don't really want to make 2 SC threads, you know? That's really a waste of space. Anyway I want to learn Terran, any resources you guys can provide me?

Also did you watch yesterday's game of Jinro vs. MarineKing! I'm so glad MarineKing won. big_smile He's going to be stopped by MVP though. :[

Just got it for Christmas after taking like a 15 year break from RTS games.  Anyone here ever play Dune for the Sega Genesis?  Man, that was a great game.  I've been doing more console gaming in the last decade with games like Uncharted, Mass Effect, and Modern Warfare (don't have a strong enough gaming PC, so I'm just barely crawling when I run SCII).  It's been fun learning about all the different classes and counters and stuff but I don't have as much time to sit around and game these days so I've been doing more gaming on the go w/ the iPhone and some RTS's like "Red Conquest" and "Uniwar" (amongst other good iPhone games).
