As far as I know you shouldn't watch TV after you learned something, since the brain shuts more or less down. Listening to some musik, reading something, or going to sleep right after the learning is supposed to be better, since the brain somehow processes what has been just put into it, though it won't do that so much when there has been a TV-session inbetween. Ever dreamed about stuff you just learned right before bedtime? I guess that proves the point.

From my experience computer games, at least the tactical ones, are also a no-no, since they keep dreams occupied all night long. Really annoying and not very refreshing to wake up and realize you've tried out different tactics ... after two nights like that I put them on the back of the shelf and they're still collecting dust. A friend of mine had the same problem with climbing. She needs to do some relaxing reading after the climbing-session, otherwise her mind tries out all kind of different grips to finish a route on the wall, while she's asleep.

Well, last night after I finished studying I kind of sat there and relaxed to some music then went to sleep.

Got all my "new" kanji correct this morning big_smile

If Bwgen (brainwave generator) is too expensive for you, try out the open source Gnaural program.

After reading the posts here I downloaded sbagen and find it really intriguing. Does anyone have suggestions on what settings to use for kanji study? It seems that the documentation focuses more on long-term use.
