I was trying to type this sentence into anki

東京タワ-を知つていますか。

And I just couldn't get the kanji 知 to appear.  Actually I could when i type SHI RU it showed up, but when I type shi alone and shi tsu te and various other variations it wasn't coming and wasn't showing up in any of the kanji options.

What am I doing wrong?

It's not しつています it's 知っています type it as a small っ and you'll be fine.

edit: to type it on an English keyboard it's shitteimasu

When I first started learning Japanese, the small つ was my greatest enemy.

I remember having a lot of trouble with パーティー when I wasn't used to the IME.  I thought for sure there had to be some way to type the ティ part with just two keys, but nope, gotta type texi every time.

You could type 'thi' for that.

Speaking of パーティー, how do you type the ー (long vowel) from an IME?  I'm lost on that one.

when you're typing in Japanese, hit the "dash" button.
- becomes ー

Huh.  So you can.  I can honestly say that I would have never figured that one out without looking it up.  Which, of course, I didn't.  So I didn't.
