That 絵巻 style illustration of Pokemon is approximately infinity times more exciting than Pokemon video-games.

PS: I have no idea what the mudkip meme is since I neither watch/play Pokemon nor read 4ch.

Yeah, the illustration is great. Love the simple calligraphy.

Out of curiosity are those the original Japanese names? edit: looks like kanji meanings are related to the Pokemons, but the absence of kana makes me think the names are also changed to fit the style?

PS: we have a big Pokemon fan onboard with a fan site, though I'm not sure he's been visiting for a while.

I've never played any pokemon but I recently bought Soulsilver, and it's fairly entertaining.  I probably won't get the new ones though unless I finish Soulsilver and really like it a lot.

I love that illustration!

I've never played any of the games though, unless you count the now dead pokemoncrater.com and lately pokemonindigo.com.
It's a fun time waster, but generally I find browser rpgs (in Japanese if I can find them) more exciting.

I spent a considerable portion of my childhood parked in front of Pokemon. I'm pretty sure Red is permanently lodged in my Gameboy Pocket, and it's sort of depressing because I could have been doing something productive like...read. Or something.

Anyways, I'm utterly fascinated with this kid.

Reminds me of my elementary school days when the entire school would gather together at recess to trade pokeyman cards. That was some serious shit!

Nothing beat that epic battle music either!!

On-topic: It's nice to see Pokemon still going strong ^^ I started playing Red and Blue and was all into the cards back during 7th grade (which was in '99). Kinda drifted away from Pokemon after the Gold and Silver games were released. Not really because I was "too old" or it was boring; it was more or less that I just found other things to get addicted to >.<

I used to have tons of Pokemon stuff but lately I've just been getting 1 game per generation. I didn't even do all the stuff Diamond had to offer.

I'm too old to have been into Pokemon when I was a kid -> but if I had been born in that era I think I would have been all about it!

I used to have a Jiggily Puff key chain though!

Also - I used to work in a kids center, and all the time I would design "Pokemon" with the kids. We made hundreds of them, and put them all over the walls.  This actually went on for a few years and in that period consisted of the majority of artwork I produced (LOL)! I enjoyed it, because it was more fun then just drawing animals for the kids - I would have them come up with combinations of different animals, give them powers, and of course - made up names. The kids were seriously into it (and I was too), and always wanted me to send the drawings to Japan. It also got a lot of kids more into drawing themselves I think.

Though not exactly "Pokemon", it was still good memories for me. I think as an artist (who mostly draws non-human things) I would actually enjoy being a designer of Pokemon if I ever had the chance (job wise).

Man, I was so obsessed with pokemon when I was a kid. Even after it went out of style, though I did grow out of the tv series. I still love the games, but I'm not always up to date. I wanted to buy the japanese versions, but they are so much more expensive...

As for the OP artwork... some of it looks cool, some of it looks like boyish scribbles.

Anyway, here someone took the time to draw every single pokemon(until the new ones come out)

Must have been exhausting...
