Pitch accents for these words are in v17.2 which I'm about to post. If you find any more, please don't hesitate.

Comparing to my own database I'm working on, all is in order now.

I think it would be nice if you'd search & replace all the Japanese POS markings with the English ones from EDICT. But I guess some advanced learners would disagree...

Maybe I can make it an option.

This is nothing short of amazing. Now if one of the many whiz kids on this forum could somehow compile that to work on Mac, I would think that Xmas had come early this year.

I have just uploaded version 17.3 of the Rikaisama Firefox extension.

Download version 17.3 via SourceForge

What's New?

● Added pitch accents for 9,792 more words (Thanks toshiromiballza!). This brings the total to 117,101.

● Added the "Attempt to color expression/reading and show pitch accent" option to the EPWING options tab. It is disabled by default. This option is optimized for 『研究社 新和英大辞典 第5版』, but will also work with 『大辞泉』, 『広辞苑第六版』, and 『明鏡国語辞典』. Screenshot:

http://rikaisama.sourceforge.net/images/epwing_color_and_pitch.png

Some words, like "本当に" for  『研究社 新和英大辞典 第5版』, are in a format that my simplistic parser cannot detect and they will appear as if the option is disabled.

In the future, I might add color and pitch accent support for other EPWING dictionaries and automatically turn off the feature for dictionaries that are not supported.

If you could bring up a feature enabling autopronounce like this chinese popup dictionary, it would be marvelous.
http://www.loqu8.com/pronounce.htm
Even better if it could use the folder JDIC_Audio_All_09April2010 which you have made available, not the online one. And the option for hearing the amateur recordings from forvo.
http://api.forvo.com/

Something like ``If AutoPronounce is enabled, you'll hear the japanese word pronounced immediately`` option.

Any chance to have access to the phrases on yahoo dictionay from rikaisama?

It could be possible for textaloud/google tts or something similar to read the dictionary definition in japanese? Like it does on anki with google tts pressing F3/F4.
Rikaisama could also present some small images associated with the word from google images like the plugin images does on anki.

Hey cb4960, thanks a lot for rikaisama, I use the real time import every day. Just a quick question, do you plan on making the real time import available for Anki 2?

Another request would be to add more EPWING dictionary slots, maybe 10. I currently use Daijisen, Meikyou, Koujiten and Daijirin and would like to add other dictionaries/encyclopaedias.

Auto-pronounce is doable. I could look at the saved audio folder and, if the clip is not found, download it.

Yahoo dictionary is lower priority since EPWING and Sanseido modes exist.

I have no interest in TTS for definitions. However, many TTS programs will scan the clipboard so you can just set the save format to $n, highlighted a word, and press the C key to copy the definition to the clipboard.

Not sure images would be useful for me.

When out of firefox, I use goldendict with the folder contaning the audio. Then, it pronounces automatically. I just had to rename all the almost 130k mp3 files from でいすい - 泥酔 to 泥酔 using some batch file for it to work.

How can I solve this:

When clipboarding from sanseido, everything's clean:
降臨    こうりん    (n,vs) 〈スル〉 神仏が人間界に現れること. ▼天孫~

Now clipboarding from Koujiten.
降臨    こうりん    <span class='w-kanji'>降臨</span><span class='w-kana'>こう‐りん</span> <span class='w-conj'>(名)0</span><br />①神仏などのあまくだること。「天孫―」<br />②貴人の来訪すること。光臨。光来。

The <span class='w-kanji'> </span><span class='w-kana'> </span> <span class='w-conj'> </span><br /> bugs me. What's the solution?

The same problem with Daijisen, Daijirin and Meikyou.

You discovered a bug. Uncheck the "Attempt to color expression/reading and show pitch accent" option as a temporary workaround. I'll try to fix the problem soon.

+1

PS: Can happily report that dtcamero's Mac version of Rikaichan also works on OS X 10.8.2.

Rikaisama's JDIC audio function seems to have been broken in a Firefox update. I managed to get it working by changing this line in rikaichan.js:
downloader.saveURI(audioUrl, null, null, null, null, tempAudioFile);
to
downloader.saveURI(audioUrl, null, null, null, null, tempAudioFile, null);

Might be related to this:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=820522

Might be best not to update.

Thanks for investigating this! I'll see about releasing a version that includes your fix tomorrow.

I have just uploaded version 17.4 of the Rikaisama Firefox extension.

Download version 17.4 via SourceForge

What's New?

● Fixed the improperly formatted save when "Attempt to color expression/reading and show pitch accent" was checked. (Thanks arnaldosfjunior!).

● Fixed the audio not playing with Firefox 18. (Thanks loter103!).

Thanks for the reminder. I actually wanted to spend some time and analyze why my 『大辞林 第2版』/『NHK日本語発音アクセント辞典』/『新明解国語辞典第五版』 pitch accent parser didn't add those 290 pitch accents to the database in the first place. v17.4 was released quickly just to fix the serious issue found by loter103.

It's because they're not in the other two dictionaries, only in NHK, and it was me who parsed them out. It was my mistake, not yours.

Hi all,

Quick question regarding the example sentence function in Sanseido mode - how do you get the sentences to appear?  I tried to follow a previous member's question about the subject but couldn't seem to find where it got resolved.

Thanks a ton.

I'm trying to get this mod to work with the current Rikaisama extension. Can anyone help me out with it? I'm trying to give myself a variety of SRS production-style cards(including sentences and these are exactly what I'm looking for). Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry, but I haven't gotten around to enabling Sanseido mode example sentences yet. You can, however, see example sentences in EPWING mode.
