Alright, I'm trying to make this thread while keeping all of the immature innuendo out of my head. Anyway, I was thinking of buying some baoding balls because they apparently help you relax, and maybe I could use them during Anki reps? Who knows.

Was wondering what your thoughts on baoding balls are, and a good place to buy them. I could get a set off of Amazon, but they are only $7. I know they aren't supposed to be extremely expensive, but I'm also not sure of their general price range.

Any input helps. Thanks.

Benwa balls might be more effective.

There's also some kind of ball with an accelerator in it, that gets very heavy when you shake in a circular pattern.. I think it helps strengthen the forearms.. another option.

Now I'll be evil's advocate but... if you use an SRS and use these Baoding Balls at the same time, you're probably not being very attentive. It's like sitting in class when I was a child and twiddling a pencil in my thumbs, eventually I figured that if I stood still the "boring" would eventually go, and I would remember much better. I didn't do it often  because I admit it took some determination (especially as a child), but the effect was enough that after those classes I didn't feel the need ti study at all.

Quality of attention is key.. you will almost certainly do more reviews (by rating yourself lower over time), with a distracted mind.

Twiddling thumbs, or playing with a pencil, or shaking one leg under the desk, these movements seems relatively benign, but what they are really is an outlet for stress. In other words they are a sign that you are resisting "what is". Without flying too high, practically.. it reduces the quality of your attention, and thus the results of your review session.

That was supposed to be the meaning in time boxing by the way.. if you time box and twiddle thumbs, or play with something in one hand, you're not time boxing, you're still splitting your attention. Of course maintaining that kind of attention is demanding, hence do it for short bursts, up to 25 min or so, and take a rest between.

The baoding balls give off a relaxing sound in the youtube videos I saw.. but then wouldn't it be something to use for "relaxing time"?
