"AS IT IS": a short film about Nonduality - with words by Jeff Foster

Beautiful little movie.. there's something that still irritates part of my mind with the "zen" approach. Often it looks like a person went through fundamental changes within, and then they preach that "this is it". But they seem to totally forget where they were before, and in the process I feel that their message just doesn't come accross.
I think Eckhart Tolle does a better job about it.. at the risk of using more "new agey" vocabulary. But then a lot of westerners seem more attracted to the "zen" philosophy. There is nothing, there is no enlightement, there is no house, there is no flashcards, you are but you are not, you speak but you don't speak, *yawn* ..
Ok that's my little rant on non duality. I see what they're pointing at but I'm just not convinced about the effectiveness of the message. That's what I like with the meditation courses. They may not work for all, and it may be "baptism by fire" for some (funny Reddit comment on Vipassana 10 day course..), but it's doing something.
Well I guess what I'm saying is that these guys get "enlightened" and then promptly forget that they DID in fact seek for a long while, until they realised all the seeking was an illusion. And then they tell you to stop seeking. Uh?
Another spiritual teacher (Adi Da I think?) explained better, he said something "like the closer you get to the destination, the less seeking (or wanting) there is". Eventually you reach the destination, and there is no more seeking.
EDIT: rofl, just minutes after posting, I search on google "non duality japanese character" and the first hit is THIS post. Whoah.. they're running on nanocomputers or something? O_O

I don't think there is any Zen master who says that you don't need to practice.
About the effectiveness of the message, I think it depends heavily on the individual. For some a particular message works, for others it doesn't. You can explain 'what is' in many ways and the essence is the same. The package is a matter of taste imho.
