I'm kind of writing for fun but I want to know what you all think. I was on mixi just now and I saw someone write the most difficult 自己紹介 that I have ever seen on mixi.

I can read novels no problem, but there's so many things I can't read here. Well, a lot of it are the names of places/people. Also, it's feels like I'm reading a Japanese history textbook(which I have never read). Who can read this without using a dictionary? JLPT 1 ain't got nothing on this.

I guess the next challenge for me is to read some Japanese history.

I can read it more or less, although I don't know how to pronounce a lot of the names.  At least it has punctuation, which helps a lot.  Here's an example of what I've been trying to read lately, this is a note from a 16th-century Genji commentary talking about the meaning of the title of the first chapter (桐壺) and the existence of alternate names for it:
此巻の名一名つぼせんざい或は奥端有此名謬説也一巻二名也云々此巻の名詞をとれり桐壺の更衣の事をもととする故に此名あり(巻の名の事はしめにくはし)桐壺は大内五舎の内の淑景舎也源氏の母更衣此所に住す依て此名あり

There's hardly any hiragana in there! I had my girlfriend (Japanese) take a look- she said it's a lot of place and people names and she can't really read it.

Oh- yudan- she looked at your passage and just said "わからん、日本語が面白くない"

Google translator can't even tackle basic sentences.

Seriously. It can handle Chinese decently, but it sucks with Japanese.

Okay, names are still my weak point. This text just attacked it. For massive damage!

This is amazing news. I suddenly feel so much better. My heart literally skipped a beat when I read this sentence. My conclusion is, the guy who wrote this is an idiot and was trying to hard to write fancy Japanese.

I would write a response in Fancy English, but I have lost my ability to speak in that language.

All I could come up with was, "Ph3r m@1 l33+ ski[[z pl0x perinchema."

And thus, I blundered through the othography of parenchyma rather obtusely.
