If you are judging the album by the two tracks on the link, I encourage you to check out the whole album, as each track is very different and there might be some that you can relate to more.

This isn't really directed at vgambit, because obviously by their comments, they would prefer music where everything is perfectly on-beat, perfectly mixed, etc.  For sure, many people in the country (world??) agree with this - I mean Nicki Minaj is NUMBER TWO (if this doesn't bother you, I don't really know what to say) on the U.S. Billboard Rap chart right now...

Drake's shit is perfectly on beat, perfectly mixed...he's been on the top ten for 28 weeks...

But even so, there are those among us that believe that, in fact, 'perfection' can be found in those tangible imperfections - however severe or slight - in music created in a modern world where computers and other technology allow anything to be mechanically, rigidly, perfect. Music, including hip-hop, is essentially human...removing all imperfection makes it too artificial and 'manufactured' sounding to me. After all... 猿も木から落ちる o_O

As for Tell You a Tale, it's not sampled we just played it on instruments, but glad that you like it Ryuujinn!

@nest0r I learned to value beats over rhymes by listening to Group Home. If the beat is wack, I can't bother to listen to the lyrics. If the beat is good, then I don't mind the lyrics, though I can appreciate them.

I love dope hip hop as much as the next guy but there is someone who I think you should check out. Shota Shimizu sings pretty soulful rnb stuff if youre looking to add some diversity to your playlist.  His last album has a sick hip hop remix of his song called "home" but I couldnt find it on youtube.

I actually meant a little bit of both - where you guys finding the albums and how you guys finding out about more new artists. I've tried randomly listening to whatever I find but that doesn't seem to be working right now.

Well, in that case you definitely want to contact KREVA (yes, the one posting in this thread). We really do have a secret lair.

As for the other part of it - what I did in the beginning was download some random people, listen, and see what I liked. Then, I would search more people who worked with the ones that I liked and continue going like that. I would also research to see who was popular and well liked in Japan, and check them out too.

Finally, I started finding sites like nihon5rap.com that show a lot of new underground and independent artists (like AKLO, MoNDoH, klooz) and keep going with that.

So, good luck to you. Once you've found our hiding spot I'd recommend pretty much anything on there. It's all good.
