Don't know who he is, but I'd like to see something from him.

Just added RUMI's (aka 言葉魔女 (check out RUMINATION track for that one) ) [Hell Me NATION] and Pony's [Verseday] to the site.

I highly, highly recommend both. RUMI has to be the most talented female artist... nay, one of the most talent hip hop artists on the scene right now. And I hadn't heard of Pony before, but his album is absolute fire as well.

P.S. -  I think this has now become one of the longer threads on RevTK. Congrats.

Glad to see there are other female artists coming up since I've been trying to find more female artists after Coma-Chi sold out on us with her last album. Did I say that out loud? lol

Anyway, anyone know of Miss Monday?  Granted, nowadays, she's more reggae/soul and less hip-hop, but her first album is predominately hip-hop, and it is very nice.  Her sound is maybe a little outdated compared to Rumi, but its good music. If you don't mind funky jazzy hip-hop with a little reggae mixed in, give it a try at the blog.  This is my favorite album from a Japanese female rapper.

There's also a PV for one of the tracks on her first album.  True hip-hop heads will notice a familiar sample right away. smile

Ah, good stuff! I was looking for some Miss Monday a while ago and gave up.

Also, completely agree with Coma-Chi. It's a shame. However, she was really good at B Boy Park 2010. But that was mostly because for her second song she brought out RHYMESTER and they did B-Girlism.

Today by Tom Scott. Classic. Not really feeling the song, though.

"untitled" is Tick Tack by Local Family. Used to be on my ipod's playlist, but the chorus got old, so I removed it. hmm

Also, is it just me, or is nihongorapyoyo taroutanukiman's new account?

Oh, you're right.  Hoshiro uploaded that one.  Haven't listened to it yet, though.

Probably the same person since there are no titles.

On iTunes, check track 9 on メシアTHEフライ's new album "MESS-King of Dope".  It uses a sample that  四街道レンジャー used on one of their songs for V.I.C. Tomorrow.  Seems like a pretty sick track from the 30 second sample.

Damn ****, she had such a talent, just unbelievable.
Listening to Day before blue now, and such a pity sad

It seems that it is the only album which I really like. I thought she sold out after this album...

I was just talking with some Japanese guy online about hip-hop and just about pissed my pants when I heard the response below after I introduced him to Dinary Delta Force's BED TOWN ANTHEM on YouTube and asked him if he liked it.

"いや、トラックは古い感じだし、MCも、アングラなら半端な洗練じゃ意味ないような・・・。個性が無いって言うか、インディーズの頃の妄なんて、ド下手ばかりでも面白かったし。スキルがあるかと言えばそこまででもないっていう。"

Sounds like an underground hip-hop hater. lol

Hahaha, that's fantastic. He clearly doesn't like late 80's early 90's style hip-hop. What kind of stuff does he like, do you know? And do tell where you found Japanese people to chat to about hip-hop online ;-)

I found the person from a p2p network called うたたね that Hoshiro mentioned in an earlier post.  After browsing through his files, a majority of the hip-hop he listens to is on the blog already (Rhymester, Buddha Brand, Dabo, K Dub Shine, Shakkazombie and Zeebra to name six).  Buddha Brand surprised me though since they've always been underground/indies hip-hop and their whole catalog is old school.

Ah ha. Good resource. Thanks.

And very surprising he likes Buddha Brand and not DDF

In a shameless plug that has nothing to do with Japanese, my friend just dropped a hip-hop mixtape that me and a friend produced, you can download it in it's entirety as .zipped .mp3s here:

@valymer That music is neither Japanese, nor hip-hop, nor dope. It has no place in this thread. Send that link to Swishahouse or some shit.

You could always show us how much better the music that you make is?

Since you know what's "dope"...

Please enlighten us.

Also, Swishahouse is a label, why would I send a free mixtape to a label? It's already hosted by Refined Hype...

Sounds like you don't really understand as much as your trolling might leave people to believe.

valymer,

I think the main problem is you came here and posted a non-Japanese album in a thread about Japanese hip-hop. Granted it's hip hop (and based off the song I listed to "Preaching to the Choir", it is "dope" and the production is nice, good job), but it's not Japanese.

*Edit*

Beat on the other sample "Tell it like it is" is hella dope. Good job. Original point still stands though.

I guess I don't know anything about good music, seeing as I'm not a musician myself. I guess the jig is up. This whole 12-page thread that's been active for a year straight, the thousands of views my Youtube Japanese Rap playlist has gotten... It's all bullshit. Sorry, guys.

I gave the tracks a re-listen, just to double-check. The drums on "Tell it like it is" are way offbeat. Shit is straight cacophony.

Send it to a radio station. They'll probably love it.
