Nestor is... Male...

The gender bending just don't stop!!! yikes

Unless...

Edit: Also

When Tobberoth is making a point he is male. When he is giving details about his experiences he is female.

So this system more likely displays the mood of the author (or piece of writing) rather than the author's sex.

Unless...
