For those in America, something else I'm thinking about getting for myself is the Spawn HD 720. It's basically a slingbox for videogame consoles (PS3, XBox 360, etc).
Basically you connect your console to the Spawn HD 720 and you can play video games over LAN or even the internet. It sends all of your controller button presses and movements to the console and the HD 720 streams the video to your PC via the Spawn HD 720 software.
Another cool feature is that your friend can login to your videogame system and play a 2-player game together with you (even if both of you are in different places).
Right now, the highest quality video streaming can only do 720p at 30fps (as opposed to the full 60 fps), but the quality is more than good enough. Maybe it's not so good for latency-sensitive games (like fighting games and FPS), but for something like RPGs, you'll hardly notice much of a difference.
Here's some video of the device in action:

They even play Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur 4.
So essentially, you can play your PS3/Xbox 360 on your laptop while your are at work/lunch break wherever. You no longer have to physically be at home to play on your
videogame console.
Unfortunately, it doesn't ship until mid-January. But a few weeks isn't too bad.
