I've been reviewing just now and started getting an error popoup ("Oops: invalid JSON response") when I hit the 'No' or 'Easy' buttons. This happened about 6 times, then the display of expired cards failed entirely...although there were still about 140-odd cards to review, nothing popped up; I'm looking at a blank blue square with the little slider bar showing 39 out of 178 cards reviewed, 23 passed and 17 failed (blush), and the Undo button. Nothing else.
I loved the old interface. I quite like the new one, but maybe the bugs aren't all out of it yet.
Thanks for all your work.

Hmm have you not been able to review at all?
What browser and browser version do you use? Please try the same page in a different browser (not just version, eg. IE, Firefox 3+, Opera, Safari) and let me know if the results are different.
The review page, all the site in fact is still supposed to work in IE6+, and all major browsers. I have never been able to test on mobile browsers though!
I have had the same issue on IE 6 (will have to check to verify, but I'm pretty sure its IE 6). Also had an issue today where it didn't save the status of my last 10 cards at the end. It warned me that navigating away from the page would cause the status to be lost and to hit END, but END didn't seem to do anything so I went back to review and redid the 10 it lost.
I haven't seen either issue on Firefox 3.5, just on IE.
Edit: yep, IE6

Fabrice, I can`t review at all.
I am using Firefox 3.0.15.
I have also tried IE8, but couldn`t even login with this browser.
I have just recently moved to Japan and after the internet line was finally installed in my apartments, I discovered that meanwhile the site was updated. Though now I am using hi-speed internet line (100 mbps), it takes much more time to load kanji.koohii page, than it was when I was using simple ADSL line in Kazakhstan.

Fabrice,
when I am using IE8 or Opera 10 beta and try to sign in from this page (http://kanji.koohii.com/login) - I enter my username and password and click "Login" button, then browser tries to login, but stops early and download the main page (http://kanji.koohii.com/) instead of login me in.
when I use Firefox 3+ (by the way, have updated my browser to 3.5 version today), I sign in without any problems, but when I click on orange "xxx due cards" button to review I almost always (99,9% of probability) get the message "Oops! Invalid JSON response".

As for slower loading pages, I am not sure now. It was my first impression, when I first saw updated site. Practically every page of a new site was slow.
I`ve just checked again, but this time it was more or less normal.
I think that there maybe one of the 2 reasons. Now when the new data is somewhere in the cache of my browser it loads faster. Second reason why the downloading of pages goes smoother is that I have upgraded RAM memory on my notebook today.

Thank you for the detailed report above, I really need this to identify the problem.
I can't say anything about Opera 10, or any browser in fact, so long as they are beta versions. I had to uninstall Chrome 4 beta for example, because it messed up the left side column of the media wiki homepage.
The login page does redirect you to the homepage, that's normal, but then you should see the "quick summary" section at the top of the page, and the welcome message with your username, indicating that you are logged in.
Are you sure you haven't disabled cookies or use other related plugins in Firefox? The website needs cookies for session management, just the way most websites do.
Regarding speed, yes, after each website update you have typically a full download of all javascripts and stylesheets. The same happens anytime I make fixes or tweaks, except in that case only the updated scripts/styles are downloaded. The pages do have more requests (5 scripts and 3 styles on the reveiw page) which needs to be merged somehow (to do), but the site will always be slower on an empty cache.

More specifically the only thing I changed was in web-antivirus option of Kaspersky 6.0
The default option was to check the data stream for viruses. So you can check viruses on-the-fly.
I changed it to checking with bufferization. That made all the difference. After bufferization for antivirus checking was allowed everything became smooth.
