Site behaving strangely

When I logged in just now I was surprised to see 34 expired kanji above the review button when there should have been none as I had done them yesterday and the refresh is 4 hours away.  (Edit: yesterday's review was something like 20 or 22 cards and definitely not 34 in any case).

Then when I clicked on review the Review>>Due Flashcards window was empty and a dialog box "no flashcards in this selection" pops up.

Furthermore in the failed kanji/study page there are many more than there should be, including some I marked as learned yesterday or the day before.

I use Firefox 3.5.4 on XP SP2 but same thing happens with IE.

yep same for me

"home" says 47 kanji to be reviewed, but going to reviews shows no orange cards. Dunno what's going on?!

That sounds like the timezone option from your profile is used in most places but was lost in the refactoring of the home page summary. This should not affect the status of your cards though. I am guessing the 34 cards are those you would have seen at the next "refresh". I'll look at it in the next few days.

PS: have to go now. But anyway no worries, I always do a full backup before updating the production database.

Thanks. But even if they are the cards from the next refresh shouldn't they display instead of a blank window with "no flashcard items in this selection"?

No, because the review page itself appears to use the timezone correctly. So one page believes it's, say, 11pm and there is no more expired cards. Another, due to server timezone (the server is in Texas US), believes it's already next day 5am, and you have new expired cards. It's the home page summary that is displaying wrong I think.

Anyway really going now :p

I understand. Thanks.

Hmm. I'm in Texas myself and I have '55 expired cards!' on the front page, but when I click to review, I get 'no flashcard items in this selection'.

The site is *not* working correctly.  It tells me I have 40 reviews, but refuses to show me even one, or any expired cards in any box.  It's 4 minutes past a new day, and behavior did not change one bit from before to after.  The site is *not* working correctly.  Sorry.

Same thing happened to me, 113 expired cards shown on front page as of a few hours before midnight, but not on review page.  As of 12:07 am though there are 113 expired showing on the review page as well so the time zone disconnect seems to be the reason.

What "time zone disconnect"?  If the site is giving you a count of expired cards, but not making them available or telling you what box has how many expired, the site is not working correctly.  In fact, since it's now a new day, and I cannot review *any* expired cards, the site it not working at all.

A couple things I noticed:

(1) I can't click on non-expired cards any more.  Previously it was possible to "review ahead" and go through non-expired cards by clicking on the green columns.  That doesn't seem to be possible any more.  I've been trying to keep ahead of expired cards and review 100 to 150 kanji a day (cycling completely through the cards once a month or so).  Is there a way to do this on the new site?

(2) The link that was mentioned here in the forums to review "failed" cards in normal review:
http://kanji.koohii.com/review/review.p … &box=1
... no longer works.  This isn't a huge deal because I can move them into box 1 and start reviewing normally from there.

Okay, after midnite I went and reviewed and everything seems to work okay now smile

Good work on the site, Mr. Administrator. I really appreciate the effort that you've put into maintaining it.

Yes, there is a bug, that's why "I'll look at it in the next few days.". Sorry I didn't make that clear. It shouldn't affect your flashcard status negatively, it appears to be more of a timzone handling bug.

Thanks for the reply.

Is there a keyword that can replace "expired" in order to review non-expired cards?

Before anything else, many thanks for providing this wonderful service.  Going through RTK wouldn't be nearly as easy or fun without a custom-made SRS with stories provided by others.

Thanks for providing this resource that has helped so many of us.

I noticed that the export function no longer works.  The URL below gives a 404.

Thanks again for the great site.

The new "Progress Chart" isn't nearly as friendly as the old one, and the description matches the old one, not the new one.

The "contact" links appear to be universally broken.

Thank you, I found a broken contact link on the donation page. Did you find broken links somewhere else?

Hi fabrice!

the new greasmonkey script does not work with the replaced keywords, all the replacements are gone at the moment.

I don't know if this is part of your part?

have a good night and thank you so much for the possibilty of adding selected flashcards and removing selected ones.

The home page -> Contact (http://kanji.koohii.com/)
Progress Chart -> Related Article -> Your Feedback (http://kanji.koohii.com/news/id/30)

I'm experiencing the same issue. Each day, I'm presented with the same kanji that I've correctly reviewed in the previous days. I admit I'm getting frustrated by this behaviour, I can't seem to bring these piles back to zero.

Another thing I've been noticing are the frequent reconnect messages. Is this happening to any of you guys? Is there anything I can do to bring the functionality back to normal?

Finally, I'd like to say that the site is much better now, the new review mechanisms are great. I just wish I could make these review issues go away... Thanks! wink

I'll answer myself here. smile

Over the past 24 hours these issues seem to be solved: no reconnect messages and the kanji piles are behaving normally. I have no idea if any server-side changes were performed, but everything seems to be working correctly now.
