Did any of you get Google Wave invites? If so, feel like sharing? I think it could be a really great learning collaboration tool for all of us. Perhaps more efficient than Google Groups/traditional mailing lists.

Please e-mail if you would like to share an invite smile I am fairly psyched about it, but I've really been trying to locate one for my brother, who has been hotly anticipating Wave since it came into the news.

Yeah, I'd like an invite, too. Interested to see what it's all about... But I've not heard anything back from them either.

I'll be keeping my ear to the ground on this one. Can't wait until it's finally released though.

I think the cool thing is yet to come and will be someone who utilizes the google wave API to build something truly innovative. Basically, the google wave killer app is not here yet, but when it does you will know smile

Good luck. I was in Google Summer of Code this year, and my buddy interned on the Gmail team...Neither of us could snag an invite sad

Yeah, for $150.

I'd much rather wait for a kind, fellow Japanese learner to share smile

If I get an account with invites, I'll be sure to share. I hope you'll all do the same. I really think it could be a great way to make a huuuge database of japanese learning resources.

I managed to get an invite just recently, only to find out that Google isn't giving extra invites out to recent invitees. tongue

So now I can send waves back and forth to the guy who invited me... and that's it. It's kind of silly, really. I can see where they're coming from-- they're trying to assimilate a ton of people right now, get them processed and all that jazz, and they're totally swamped. The last thing they want to do is start giving out extra invites and tempting orders of magnitude.

But I'd really like to communicate with more than just one dude.

Is there no other way to find people?

I just have this wonderful picture in my head of a bunch of us getting on wave and starting some Japanese resource waves. What do you think of it? Have you thought of any cool new things you can do yet?

Right now it feels a lot like IM... except you can instantly publish the results to a blog or CMS or some other kind of website. And naturally, you can just drop in things like photos or youtube videos or some of the apps.

I was just playing with it with a friend of mine, and we were both editing each other's replies in real time as we were replying to each other in a wave. It was pretty funny stuff. And the best part is that you can use playback to see who edited what, so you don't necessarily lose any data. It's all preserved.

It's pretty much an open container, which means you can do pretty much anything you want with it. If there's a publishing robot available, it can publish the wave pretty much on whatever destination system you want to-- WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.

I see it as something that could eventually replace Facebook, to be honest, only more useful. It's not a closed-end system, it has the same kind of extensibility, and it doesn't have all of the annoying bits of something like Facebook. (Not yet, anyway.) And it will eventually be (mostly) open-source, so you'll be able to run your own wave server using the Federation protocols.

I've made a public RevTK wave. Search for 'with:public tag:revtk'.

I have 7 invites, but apparently "Invitations will not be sent immediately. We have a lot of stamps to lick." I'll send them to anyone who sends me an e-mail smile

Wow, it really is in the beta stages, eh? It's only been stable enough for me to play around on for an hour or so today.
