That's right, I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out and expect to be high on Vicodin and in pain for the next few days.
Preparation:
1. Reading lots of questions/answers on 知恵袋 regarding wisdom teeth. I've noticed Japanese people are a lot more considerate of the people who have to yet to get the operation done. On the other hand, many Americans on Yahoo Answers tell the terried people who asked questions that "it was 3 times as bad as child birth" or that "they should be expecting one of the most traumatic experiences of their life."
2. Early reviews using the 予習 feature recently added to Anki (in moderation)
3. Eating lots of chewy and/or crunchy food since I won't be doing that for awhile.
4. Shadow as much as possible while I can.
About what to do after it:
1. For this purpose I've got a huge stack/list of Japanese movies/episodes of stuff both tangible and computer.
If you have any other tips I'll be quite happy to hear them

It wasn't too bad. The worst part for me was, about a week or so after the operation, my gums were still all cut up. I could eat solids again, but because my gums were cut up, eating *anything* was a miserable, miserable experience.
And yeah, you're not going to be in a condition to be doing any reviews for at least a day or two. Too hopped up on meds... So maybe try not to add much (or anything?) to Anki for a while before the operation.

Improvement since the removal of the wisdom teeth:
1. I can walk (after effects of anesthesia gave me extreme nausea)
2. I don't sound like an 80 year old man eating mush
3. I'm no longer throwing up on nurses
4. Codine is giving me the illusion my mouth isn't filled with painful, gaping holes
Another thing, right when I woke up and people were still working all up in my mouth, I could only think in Japanese. I don't remember exactly what it was and whether it was even correct, but it was all stuff like "What's going on!? "What are they doing to me?!" "I'm already awake?" And I even said a few of them but it came out sounding like, as mentioned above, an elderly man eating oatmeal. For someone reason I was thinking they'd really understand me though (as in, they'd understand Japanese). Anesthesia screws people UP
