Hey guys,
Like most people, I got a TV screen in my living room. I'd like to be able to watch kanji on it. Just one kanji after another, staying like for 5 seconds on the screen. Nothing more. Would such a video already exist that I could load from my DVD player or USB slot on to my LCD screen?
That way, I could let kanji run on my screen when I just relax on the sofa, or simply as an animated decorative painting if you will. I could conceive such a PowerPoint presentation myself, but it would take months to complete...

I got one. Where shall I sent it to you?
I guess a good option for the movie would be to have:
#1 - one movie just showing the kanji during 5 seconds,
#2 - another one showing the kanji during 5 secs and the keyword during 1,5 secs.
#3 - a third one showing kanji + keyword during 5 secs
#1 for passive, subliminal shape learning and recognition.
#2 for actual testing .
#3 for active learning.
Those movies would be nice for our TV screens, but not very flexible in a way: the kanji will always be displayed in the same order, which may be good "to learn by rote" but bad regarding the memory relying on the presentation order...

So nice of you :-) That's what I call service!
Font: just a nice one, relying on your taste.
Size and height? My LCD screen is a 32" Widescreen 1080P Full HD. I guess resolution is 1920 x 1080.
Having a big kanji - like making , I don't know, 40% of the total screen surface - and being horizontaly and vertically centered sounds nice!
Just one special request please: I would need the keyword to be in French. I'm sending you the corresponding file straight away.

Hey. I sent you the file on blindrabbits_at_gmail_._com at 2:45pm.
By the way, I see your file is 16MB heavy. Is there a way for that size to be reduced enough so as thta it fits on a light USB key that can be plugged directly to the LCD screen. I'm not sure about this but I think I heard that USB ports from LCD screens are quite limited and only accept very small USB keys, like 1 or 2MB...

don't you mean 1 or 2 GB? i don't think there was ever such a thing as a 1 MB usb "key"...
weren't floppys like 1.44 MB? Even the smallest usb "key" i can remember is like, 128 MB at least.
Yeah, 1mb sounds way too small. What would the manufactures expect you to play with it??
Also what you might need to look out for, is what formats it will play. I made the files in MP4.
*P.S I'm generating the others 2 movies at the moment, shouldn't be too long*

To be honest, I don't even know what video format are accepted through a USB port on regular LCD screens. I'll have to test it with your files, as well as for the possible size limit, and let you know afterwards.
I'll do that in 24 hours since my download is blocked for today on megaupload.
I'm just eager to discover your great work! I can't tell enough how I appreciate your sense of community. this is one more thing that keeps motivate me into learning Japanese. THANKS!

THANKS so much.
You gonna kill me: I just realize that my LCD screen can only read JPG files from its USB port, while my Home Cinema can only read MP3 through its USB port. The solution I see is to connect my PC on my LCD... or to limit myself to play the vids on my computer screen. All in all, the vids are killer review tools, once you have mastered RTK, which I'm really far to have done yet.
Thanks again.

Sure, I'm interested by the JPEG files. You should already have my personal email address...
Argh, I've started working in the office again after a one-month vacation. I hardly did 10 kanji today. Adult life and its constraints are coming back and I don't even know if I gonna be able to finish RTK before February. My goal is to do 10 kanji per day... Precision: I live in France, not in Japan.
