What to you is the funniest sounding Japanese word? Or perhaps one you think just sounds epic? How bout a few of your favourites?

収集 cracks me up. I mean its しゅうしゅう ffs!

Then theres the epic 原子力発電所  = げんしりょくはつでんしょ = nuclear power plant FTW.

ドジ is also a cool word. Clumsy.

I have to go with アホ. It just rolls of your tongue way better than 馬鹿.
Also, because I'm a huge fan of Phoenix Wright (逆転裁判), 異議あり!! gets a honorable mention.

My favorite has to be 屏風. Don't know why.  Sounds kind of bulbous.

ときどき。

I learnt it in the context of weather; it still makes me giggle..

財閥 sounds cool but the meaning isn't.

最高 is definitely one of my favorites. When I had just started studying the language, I kept hearing this word that sounded just like "psycho", so I had to look it up.

徹底的 sounds pretty weird and interesting to me.

Oh, and 救急車.

Every time a japanese person answers a phone I laugh.  Every single time.

I got one for you. How about this:

交響曲第五番は単調 (こうきょうきょくだいごばんはたんちょ) That's "Symphony # 5 in C minor"

A familiar phrase in a 中学 music class.

For me it's definitely 消防署 (しょう・ぼう・しょ). When you say it, it's like those long oooooo's all over the place, and the final short しょ always feels like "finally I'm through" wink

I imagine an emergency and someone actually takes the time to say 速く、消防署に電話しろ!

損害賠償請求

I'm also a fan of 高圧 and ププ.

悪循環 and ザーザー降り
are vocab words that really stuck out to me from class back in the day. I'll never forget them now, haha.

I just learned 危うい and I think it sounds hilarious. It doesn't really sound Japanese.

I dunno if loan words are off limits here, but I'm kinda fond of ダブルパンチ and マスタープラン, just cause they sound funny.

If you think they sound funny try hearing them say "computer virus" or "hollywood"

100% with you there on computer virus! I think I mentioned this in another thread too. It cracks me up every time.

Love お好み焼き (おこのみやき). It just rolls off the tongue... and tastes delicious on it too.

As of today, I have a new favorite: 腹筋運動.
This word alone has changed my stance on rômaji.

I love 擬音語 and 擬態語 (sound fx words and onomatopoieas)

the most recent strange one I picked up is しどろもどろ, meaning incoherent.

One I probably hear all the time and makes me want to laugh is ゴロゴロ
