I just finished adding vocabulary from the official JLPT2 list to Anki, and I'm a little surprised about how it turned out regarding the Kanji. I would be happy if you could help me on this:

1. The JLPT2 specification says that you need to know approximately 6000 words made out of 1000 Kanji. Having made it through the list, I know about 5000 words, but written the correct, real-life Japanese way, those 5000 words use about 1650 Kanji (!). During my learning, I didn't worry much about how many Kanji I already had, because words seemed to be easier to remember with Kanji anyway smile Does this mean that in the JLPT2 sheets, many words will be written in Kana? And does it mean that learning the JLPT1 vocabulary will be easier? wink

2. I know 41 non-jouyou kanji, most of them appear only in one word:
贅 from 贅沢
吊 from 吊す
埃 as in ほこり
掏 and 摸 from 掏摸
箒 as in ほうき
覗 from 覗く
庖 from 庖丁
匙 as in さじ
嘘 as in うそ
炒 from 炒る
鼠 as in ネズミ
咥 from 咥える
醤 from 醤油
怯 from 卑怯
饉 from 飢饉
咳 as in せき
掴 from 掴む
掻 from 掻く
蝋 from 蝋燭
囁 from 囁く
剃 from 剃る
吠 from 吠える
揉 from 揉む
繋 from 繋がり etc.
呑 as in 呑気
艘 (そう)...It says that it is a counter word for small boats big_smile
噛 from 噛む
狡 from 狡い
濠 as in ほり
轢 from 轢く
捩 from 捩る
睨 from 睨む
髭 as in ひげ
洒 from 洒落
叩 from 叩く
椒 from 胡椒
塵 from 塵芥
飴 as in あめ
罹 from 罹る
鹸 from 石鹸

Do these words appear in Kanji shape, or rather written in Kana? Would you recommend learning these? I have no intent to go higher than JLPT1/Jouyou level for now. smile

Thank you! smile

In general, the words are written in kanji, with furigana over the kanji not included in the "official" JLPT kanji lists.

Most of these kanji are commonly used but some are less so:

掏摸, 庖丁 (包丁 is more common), 咥, 狡, 轢, 捩る, 塵芥, 罹
