I've been playing around with a little idea that centers around tourism and train stations and I think I'm going to prototype my idea on Tokyo. The essential problem to solve with my little idea is that of filtering the train stations in Tokyo down to the most essential ones for foreigner travelers. Based on the size restrictions I'm placing on the project let's say you are limited to only 20 train stations. So with that being said....
1. How would you rank the 20 most important train stations for foreigner travelers and what are they in your opinion?
2. Do you think such a limited number of stations would be sufficient for the majority of tourist activities within Tokyo?

I think 20 is too many just for the major touristy places in Tokyo. Yamanote line will get you to almost everything.
Here's ten off the top of my head
Yamanote line -- Tokyo, Ueno, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya, Shimbashi, Shinagawa
Others -- Asakusa (Ginza line), Odaiba (Yurikamome line), roppongi
Sorry for not answering more in line with your questions
