I don't know why I do this, but after my session, I always click the "members" tab, and check out this number.  I like to imagine what it would be like if each of us regulars would kick-in $5 a month (like I do via a PayPal subscription).  That would be, what, $8000 a month to the guy who put up this site.  That's nothing to sneeze at, and most of us can toss $5 away on a burger and fries pretty easily.  I figure supporting this site can be like learning kanji....not all in one chunk, but little bit by little bit, it can add up.  I'd probably have a challenge coming up with $60, maybe, but spreading that out over the year, that I can do.  I think most of us regulars could do that much.

Think on it!

Why don't we all just give a hundred? Or our first born? There's no shortage of unwanted children in this world. Just think of how much he could sell them for! yikes

It always ticks me off when people beg me to donate to someone else.  If the owner is having trouble running the site, they can ask directly.  If not, you have no business sticking your nose in.  You've probably done more damage than good with this post.  Think about that next time.

Especially because of the existence of things like anki, memosyne, etc., if there was a subscription fee to use the reviewing section, it would definitely take a serious hit to the amount of people that use it.

I do not donate out of principle. If I donate to one person, I feel I have to donate to everyone. Besides, so much in life costs money, how could I afford spending money on the few things which are actually free?

I respect people who donate though, I think it's a mighty fine gesture.

Fabrice also puts a link to his amazon wish list on the support page, so you can send him a gift instead.  Then you don't have to compromise your deeply-held moral principles.
